your high schools grading scale

^ about the same. you had one B. i also agree with you JBVirtuoso. every HS in the nation should use the same scale/ GPA point system

for those that think Canadian schools are slack for their "easy" grading system, that is not always the case because you only get like 4 tests/ semester, and not many graded assignments... and not much curving, weighing, extra credit, etc...

You'll have to forgive me for my ignorance, but there are many schools in the US like this. You'll find also that many CCers take classes at universities that have similar grading practices but grant A's for 90+ and seem to have little trouble.

The point is that if you're aiming for top schools, you better be standing out at your school no matter what your grading scale is.

Unweighted.

100 = 5.0
99 = 4.9
98 = 4.8
95 = 4.5
90 = 4.0
80 = 3.0
70 = 2.0
69 and under = fail

Weighted (AP classes only), add 1.0 to all of the above. We have no letter grades. I'm in Texas.

90-100 A
80-89 B
70-79 C
69- F

My school doesn't have any D's

90-100 A
80-89 B
70-79 C
60-69 D
59- F

A is 4.0 in Regular, 4.5 in Honors, 5 in AP
B is 3.0 in Regular, 3.5 in Honors, 4 in AP
And so on.

In Florida
A: 90-100 4.0
B: 80-89 3.0
C: 70-79 2.0
D: 60-69 1.0
F: 59 and below 0.0

For every honors class, you add .4 per semester to your GPA, and for every AP/dual enrollment class, you add .8 per semester to your gpa.

Hence, my unweighted gpa is a 3.87 due to my six B's (I slacked off my freshman year) and my weighted is now 4.91.

Chicago, IL suburbs

Scale for Regular Classes:

90-100: A - 4.0
80-89: B - 3.0
70-79: C - 2.0
60-69: D - 1.0
59 and under: F - 0.0

Scale for Accelerated/AP Classes:

90-100: A - 5.0
80-89: B - 4.0
70-79: C - 3.0
60-69: D - 1.0
59 and under: F - 0.0

90-100 = A
80-89 = B
75-79 = C
70- 74 = D
69 and below = F = fail
+5 for honors; +8 for AP

i don't even know how to convert my school's grading scale to the 4 point GPA scale...

I hate my school

A+: 97-100: 4.33
A: 92-96: 4.00
A-:90-91: 3.66

I have no idea what comes below that...But the point is, it's really hard to get an A+ at my school, so that means that it's harder to get a full GPA. It makes me so jealous to see people with 4.00/4.00, because it's easier for them to be perfect.

A=90-100
B=80-89
C=74-79
D=70-73
F=0-69

Regular classes are weighted out of 4, honors/gifted are also out of 4 [that's bull but whatever], and APs out of 5 :]

San Diego (county), CA
100-90 A
89-80 B
79-70 C
69-65 D
64.9 and below F

"+" and "-" are disregarded on transcript. therefore, an A+=A=A-, B+=B=B-, and so on.
honors and AP classes are weighted the same, on a 5.0 scale

100-92 A
91-84 B
83-77 C
76-70 D
69-0 F

95-100 A
94-85 B
84-75 C
74-70 D
<70 F

Old school. 1.1 weight for AP, no honors class

I'm homeschooled, but I use the same grading scale as my old public school.

100-93 A 4
92-90 A- 3.75
89-87 B+ 3.5
86-83 B 3.25
82-80 B- 3
79-77 C+ 2.75
76-73 C 2.5
72-70 C- 2.25
69-67 D+ 2
66-63 D 1.75
62-60 D- 1.5

Hi everyone!
I'm new on CollegeConfidential and I have a question about calculating your GPA. How do you know what point scale your GPA is on? I'm applying for something, and it asks for my gpa on (which) point scale. At my school, our scale is something like this:
94-100 A
90-93 B+
84-89 B
80-83 C+
74-79 C
(etc)
And my school doesn't give any weights for Honors, but a 0.5 weight for AP.

Is there a specific name for this type of GPA point scale (e.g., 6-point, 5-point, etc?)?

Thanks so much! Help is appreciated. :)

Selective school in Hawaii
Normal:
93-100 = A
90-92 = A-
87-89= B+
84-86= B
80-83= B-
etc...
But some classes are harder (95+ = A)
and my AP Physics class has 76+ = A =)

A = 92-100
b = 84-91
c = 75-83
d = 65-74
f = 0-64

I want your schools grading system!!! Ours is 100-90 A 89-80 B 79-70 C 69-60 D Below 60 F

93-100 A
87-93 B
78-86 C
70-77 D
69 & Below F
