Your Space - overkill?

<p>For the Vassar Your Space spot, I was considering uploading my IB extended essay, but that's, y'know, an extended essay. 4,000 words. A friend suggested just my abstract but I wrote a theatre/literary analysis paper and I feel like the abstract alone does not make the body of work as impressive as I would like it to be. It's easy to sum up literary analysis in 300 words. But the entire essay, I know it sounds cocky, is freaking good.</p>

<p>My other options: My 2,000 word historical investigation, also a paper I am incredibly proud of, or an article from the student run editorial opinion magazine I wrote for last year and edit for this year. Or, if there is a way to upload a video, the ten-minute video of the one act I directed last year. Kind of questionable sound quality, though, and it was from a dress rehearsal where a few of the actors fumbled a bit.</p>

<p>Thoughts? Maybe the article is my best bet, it's shortest.</p>

<p>I’d send in the article or an excerpt from one of your papers, but NOT a 2000-word text. I feel that would truly be overkill.</p>

<p>(Personally, I’ll upload a short passage from a story I’m writing.)</p>

<p>I sent in a 15 page paper from the 5th grade for my your space. It’s supposed to be a fun way to express yourself to admissions, and if you think 2000 words is the best way to do that, go for it.</p>

<p>…not saying anyone will necessarily read it, but hey, I got in.</p>

<p>I think writing with economy shows a greater level of intelligence. Succinct and concise language always makes a better impression on me than long-winded and repetitive writing. Also - just wondering - if we submit our applications online to Vassar, can we also post an art journal or something or the sort for the Your Space? thanks.</p>
