Hi! I do this program called Youth and Government through the YMCA. It’s for high school students nationally, but each state holds its own conferences differently. I’m in the California one, which is one of the biggest in the country. This year, I was one of 13 people of the 3000 total selected to be on the supreme court, one of three sophomores. I truly am passionate about politics, mostly the judicial side, and plan to pursue it as a career. I plan on running for chief justice next year, to serve my senior year (it’s tied as the highest position but has less fame than the youth governor). Serving as the chief justice requires you to be on the YMCA youth board at the state level and attend the national judicial competition. Basically, I will do this no matter how colleges view it, but any Y&G alumni that are currently in college? How did Y&G leadership affect your acceptance/apps? What other political programs did you do? I applied to the New York Times summer law and journalism programs. On college apps to I express the importance of positions I’ve held in the past, or just write the title? My dream school is Penn and I’m interested in Penn Model Congress, has anyone done that?
