I'm currently looking to transfer from Columbia College Chicago to UNH or another school that has a MT major and a theatre education minor/major. I am currently a MT major at CCC and I have already applied to UNH. I was in the top quarter of my class at my high school and i am a first semester freshman at CCC at the moment. i am looking for other schools that have a youth drama major/minor or theatre education major/minor in the new england area.

This is just a quick reply without a comprehensive search. The following schools may have something for you and are either in New England or NY/NJ:

Emerson College
Boston College
Suffolk University
Quinnipiac College
Salem State
Bridgewater State
Wagner College
Kean University

At some schools, there really is a Theater Education concentration and at others, they have combined programs between Theater and Education.

thanks for the suggestions. thankfully i don't actually have to use any of them since i got into UNH for spring 09 and they were my top choice of school. i'm excited to start their program in the spring as a youth drama major. what is intersting about this area of study at UNH is that it is both performing for and teaching kids. :-D

congrats... I have seen their Little Red Wagon touring troupe perform... great youth drama program....

As an aside, UNH also has some leading lights in the field of early elementary literacy, training teachers to help children learn to write, using a lot of storytelling in the classrooms. If you have any extra chance or spare time to hear any of their department's presentations, this might enhance your learning about youth theater. That's another department that is interested in teaching children by tapping into their creative processes.

Congratulations on your choice! What a wonderful major, and a beautiful part of the country.
