Pierre, this is very helpful, thanks! I have a quick question: my buddy is going next year to Clemson, and he told me he got the 7,500$ annually for out of state, but also got other money that somehow brought tuition down to around 22,000 including room and board. That’s almost 20,000 less. Where/ how did he get this? They aren’t loans. Is it all just financial aid?

On the scholarships page it says “In addition to the awards listed above (aka the $7,500 your friend got), Clemson considers all admitted freshmen (in-state or out-of-state) for our restricted scholarships, which are usually donated by alumni and other friends of the University and awarded to incoming students. Typically, about 15% of our admitted students are offered one of these scholarships.”
