Hi there,
I’m new here. I’m trying to apply for the YSPA program but found nowhere to post my test scores, and other helpful information. Does someone know how to inform the program your test scores, extracurricular, etc? Without these solid materials, how can a prestigious program determine their finals? The deadline is approaching.
Many thanks!
Hey, it is written on the website that they do not ask any test scores from the applicants. You pretty much can write about your extracurriculars in the essays.
First of all, thanks very much for the info. It looks like this will become an essay competition. Also, no place for awards. I really don’t know how much you can talk about your academic achievement or extracurriculars in essays. I feel like this program may not necessary recruit good students. Not a fair game to me. Any thoughts?
I think this is a change just this year. Pretty sure they asked for scores last year. They also restricted it to rising seniors only this year. Last year rising juniors could apply.
I agree that it will be difficult to judge the best applicants. I think they are trying to distinguish themselves from the astrophysics cohorts at SSP.
Wow! This makes it pretty hard. Thanks for your post. Any people out there have the same concern? How do they even choose good candidates? It will block people from getting in who may not write a very strong essay but with amazing test scores, extracurriculars and awards, etc.
