So, I'm a junior, and at my last school I was involved in Key Club, I tutored at school everyday, I tutored at the library 4 hrs/week, I ran a handful of committees for Student Council, I was involved in litmag, and I was a peer mediator.

Then my parents moved me 400 miles over the summer and now I have absolutely nothing. My new school is great academically but there are awful, awful clubs. There's no Key Club, tutoring is limited to seniors, the library is tiny and has no tutoring group, signing up for Student Council was May of last year and joining the peer help group was March of last year.

And to add on to all that, I never had the opportunity to find out the difficulty of my AP classes from older students, so my grades are lower than usual and I'm predicting a GPA drop from ~97 to ~95.

So I'm feeling immensely screwed over and frustrated. Any advice?

That GPA "drop" seems too small to worry about, so don't fret over 2%.

As for ECs, perhaps you could talk to the advisors and explain how you were involved in those things at your old school? (Though you should have done this at the beginning of the year...) I would think they would be understanding. Same thing w/ tutoring.

No Key Club? Try and start one! Is there a teacher that you know well or has taken to you already? They may be able to stay after once a week.

Well, good luck! You still have a whole 2 years almost at the school ahead of you!

whats key club, i think our skool has it but idk what it is.

It's a rather pathetic club that masquerades around as helpers of the community when they are only trying to rack up more hours than other Key Club chapters.

lol, before I get harsh rebuttals from anyone else, I'm saying that this is the case at my school. It may not be at yours, but it's a very ignoble club at mine.

^^ Doesn't that make Key Club like NHS for kids who can't get into it. ._.

I thought colleges took movinginto account. I guess the best you can do now is establish yourself this year and do as best as you can next year.

kevin63138 - I would but the tutoring is part of NHS, so I can't really do that. And I don't feel right asking for a spot on Student Council when the whole point of it is being elected by your peers.

Key Club basically organizes community service events. I loved Key Club at my last school. The officers were always really dedicated and there were always dozens of events going on... so, yeah... it's pretty different from school to school.
