OK, so I've done countless pro/cons between UCSD and UCLA and there in a dead tie. I have a few questions regarding UCLA (specfically relating to transfer students) that I would be eternally in your debt if you could help clear up for me =]

1) Are "clicks" something to be woried about as a transfer student, or will someone who is proactive enough (i believe I fall under this classification) have no problem in making new friends?

2) If you rush a frat, and given you get a bid, do you have to live in the frat house?

3) Would you recomend UCLA over UCSD for a pre-med (psychology major)?

1) No. Don’t worry about it.
2) No.
3) Psychology major is irrelevant. Go where you’ll be happier. You’ll face competition at both places.

I think UCLA is better for the pre-med track.
btw it’s cliques not “clicks”

no, there are a ton of transfers here and they’ve all survived ;)

no

all of the psych transfers i know here are happy, but psych is such a general major that you’re going to be learning the same things here as at SD. all i can advise you to do is look at the curriculum for the major at both schools and see which looks better to you.

ucla: [UCLA General Catalog 2007-08: Undergraduate Study](http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/catalog/catalog07-08-548.html) and look at the heading “the major” for psychology. also keep in mind that some transfers end up taking psych 100A and or 100B if they haven’t really done that at a CC.

san diego: [url=<a href=“Department of Psychology”>Department of Psychology]UCSD Psychology/url requires a research paper, more math classes, but otherwise has a similar structure of core classes and electives (but actually groups its electives into 7 specializations).

at UCLA, we have no BS in psychology. pre-meds are more attracted to the psychobio major in that case. but those are the only fundamental differences. both have very strong programs… so go where you like the environment best.

thanks for clearing that up. I just submitted my SIR to UCLA, and honestly feel awesome about it.
