URI Nursing

Is anyone familiar with URI nursing? The good, the bad the ugly? Is it direct entry? This paragraph from their website leads me to believe it might not be a TRUE direct entry program (as long as you meet requirements, of course). Thank you for your help!!!

Entry into NUR 203 is competitive and seats are limited. Students are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a grade of “C” or better in all prerequisite courses to be considered. Entrance into the clinical course sequence is not guaranteed once meeting these requirements. Placement is competitively granted based on success in prerequisite criteria. Those who meet the minimum criteria but do not achieve a seat will be considered the following semester, in the same competitive manner. The NUR 203 class is determined at the close of the spring and fall semesters. Students who have not met the pre-requisite criteria for transfer to the College of Nursing and the clinical course sequence by the end of two years or sixty credits will be required to choose a different major at the University.

We were told it is not direct entry by their admissions rep at a college fair. Unlike a true direct entry (everyone accepted who meets the minimum requirements gets to continue) even those who meet the requirements are not guaranteed a nursing spot. Too bad but at least there are many direct programs in the New England area.
