1 semester of housing?

when i go to nyulife-> housing -> housing status

it says in the "semester in housing" column "1"

is that just saying 1 semester of housing for the fall semester? I'm still guaranteed spring housing right?

(transfer student)

i sent an email to them but haven't received a response yet. anyone know 'bout 26th street?

I think everyone (freshmen and transfers alike) got that. The housing's guaranteed, I think, for everyone until you drop it.

no, it's marking your first semester housing. since i'll be a sophomore, mine says "3" (for example).

26th street is the worst nyu dorm, congrats.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=w2F-7wN7nFc <~~~ common 26th st reaction

Oh, okay, thanks for clarifying that, lindseygs. :)

lol i saw that youtube video also. im definately making sure i do explorations or something to guarantee i dont get in that one...

I have 26th also. It odd because I had Cliff St. and they changed it to 26th.

****ers, I'm definitely requesting a room change.

What's wrong with 26th street? O_o

why is 26th street so expensive. the single is 18k...

for a dorm that everyone hates and doesn't have that great of rooms its so expensive.

returners - 26th street vs freshmen dorms (besides the nice ones like 3rd avenue) whats better? (minus the distance to travel to classes i guess)

distance to travel and location is everything, its pretty pointless to disregard those variables.

Lovely, what is the possibility of being released of our housing contracts?

Hey transfernow, that won't be easy. I called the housing office when I heard I'd be living in Brooklyn. You can petition to get out of the contract though, but you need some very good reasons. Even the fact that the possibility of having to live in Brooklyn (and a 35 min commute!) wasn't even an option yet when I applied for housing isn't considered a 'good' reason. The only thing you can do is do the whole "room change request" thing sometime in September.

is it true that juniors get "shafted" for dorms? (the way the lottery works i think?)

I wonder if financial reasons would be sufficient to petition out. 16k is ridic

Maybe you could call the housing service and ask? I hope it'll work out for you!

$16000 for 8.5 months!??! thats nearly $2000 a month, you can get a fairly big/nice apartment in a better area for that much.
