100-level classes as upperclassman

So, while looking through the class schedule listing in the BU Brain (I'm an accepted student and not yet attending) I noticed a few classes, mostly 100 level classes, are marked THIS COURSE IS APPROPRIATE FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS.

Does this mean you HAVE to be a freshman to take that course? I'm referring mostly to gen ed courses that are not part of my major; for example, THEA 102 Intro to Theatre. I want to take that course to fulfill my Aesthetics gen ed, but I'd prefer to fit other courses into freshman year, and I'd like to take THEA 102 in, say, my junior year.

Does anyone know anything about this?
