Just wondering if there are other 11th grade applicants here, and which testing you opted for.
My son took the PSAT. Anyone have an idea of PSAT scores the boarding schools would be looking for? Or percentiles?

Feel free to post anything else relevant to 11th applicants here too.
I got a 1220
@Yourewise, are you applying to 11th also?
yes, what schools was your son looking into?
I’m applying for Andover (11th grade) and took the PSAT (1460, 99th) and SAT (1550, 99th), but I’ve got pretty weak ECs. If you don’t mind me asking, how did your son do?
If you don’t mind me asking, what are you grades like and also you ECs?
Grades: all A+ (high school and middle school) except for English last year (94), 4.0 GPA unweighted (around 102 weighted- my school uses a 100 pt system)
ECs: swimming, piano, violin, art, volunteering (4.5 hrs/week at library and local middle school), Math NHS, Student Council, participate in computer science club activities but technically didn’t join the club
Wow, you just crushed my hopes and dreams. :))
Also, what schools did you apply too, and how were the interviews?
Nonsense, you seem very qualified. I applied to Andover, the interview was my first one every, and it wasn’t great.
I’m applying to L’ville as a current 10th grader, my details are PSAT 1400, All A’s or A+, 3/173 or so in class at the moment, 4.0 un weighted, ECs are STEM Club, Debate Team, FBLA, Model UN, Robotics Club, Soccer Refereeing, Snowboarding, Varsity School Soccer, highly competitive club soccer (state champion one year). Put Origami as a hobby and will most likely add as art supplement, as I spend a lot of time doing it and it is one of my favorite things to do outside of school. Self taught and tested out of a math class and did academic stuff during summers as well. Good luck to any other 11th grade applicants, it’s hard for us. I know I personally didn’t even think of switching to a boarding school until very recently, what has been the process for everyone else?
@MyCatBorks My son is the same…BS just came up as an option last year and it was too late to apply for 10th.
Your stats are awesome! Did you only apply to LVille?
@sunnyschool No I am applying to Hill and Westtown as well, they all look amazing
I’m applying to six different schools and I have a lot of extra curriculars and all A’s and one B (in my AP class) I really hope I get in. I think my interviews went well but I’m not so sure about my essays.
I wonder what psat and grades they are looking for to meet the school’s standards
@YoureWise All the 8th graders applying for 9th grade have SSAT’s with %s that indicate their percentile. I’d assume based on the increased difficulty of applying as someone who is not an 8th grader, you could slightly tweak this percentile upward and that would be a good estimate for the PSAT.
Keep in mind though that the school’s standards may be more rigid or lenient depending on other aspects of your app (hook, legacy, etc.) so as long as you’re aroud the school’s average, your grades essentially become a background for your ECs, interview, and essays.
how is a 1220 psat but amazing ECs (football main one) and 50 minute long skype interview on skype?
Sounds good. Are you a “impact athlete”?
50 min sounds pretty long!
Not necessarily, but my interviewer seemed impressed with my “well roundedness” and I believe he said all they need to do is make sure my grades are on par but I have had a few B’s (all honor classes) and only got a 1220 on the PSAT.
