I submitted my SAT scores on the 18th of oct to both UMich and UVA as I am applying for early action. I always assumed since it was electronic, it would be sent within a few days. However, its been more than a week and the scores as still pending. I looked around at some old threads and it says it sometimes takes more than two weeks!
Does anyone have any information on this? My essays for UMich was for Ross preffered admission (early action) and they dont accept rush reporting.
I had to pay a retrieval fee for my tests, but I did not have to call or mail to retrieve my scores. Not sure whether my score fall under archived scores.
Appreciate any input! How strict are colleges on when the SAT scores arrive. Will there be any leeway given if I mail them?
Should I be worried? Will emailing or calling collegeboard make a difference? I’ve heard they are notoriously inefficient due to being an almost monopoly
Mine are still pending too and I made sure to order them before scores came out weeks ago. Maybe we should call? I hate the CollegeBoard. I mailed in AP Score requests (I wanted to withhold a score) and they messed the whole thing up!
This is just ridiculous! I shouldn’t have to call, but I will, along with all the colleges I’ve applied to if I don’t get anywhere with the college board. Tomorrow. But it’s been nearly a month- they SHOULD have been sent by now. It’s extremely frustrating that I’m stressed over something when I was on top of things.
I called collegeboard and they said they are changing the format of their SAT score reports and will send the scores this week, but I’m not sure how accurate the information is. I think its best if we just call the schools and let them know.
@majesticmarmarr - I know exactly how you feel, I started my essays waay in advance, due to my military commitments. And now its still going down to the wire with something I cannot control.
I called college board bc sons Oct 19 order is still pending an they said the only thing I could do was add a rush for $31 which guarantees 2 days from that phone call that they get sent. We had no other choice they are due Nov 1 for sons school
Daughter ordered scores to be sent to three private universities on October 15 and they are all marked “sent.” She ordered scores to be sent to U. Michigan on October 16 and it is still marked “pending.” My concern is that I have heard that Michigan is a stickler for deadlines. Wondering if she should add a Rush. Seems ridiculous.
I would rush scores, but I’ve heard colleges dont like it if we do that, as the format is different (paper). Ill call UMich and ask them.
@uesmomof2 - Ive heard the same for UMich. I think the best thing is to call the university, b/c calling collegeboard is useless. Mine is going to cost even more cause the scores are archived
My scores haven’t sent either- I just took the October SAT subject tests so I used the four free score reports, and I requested mine October 11. My sister also did the same and she requested hers October 2. Neither one of ours have been sent to colleges- it just says “Your order is pending.”
So I don’t think it’s a matter of how early you order them, because they’re still not going to be sent. I’ve done some digging around on the forums and it seems that every year Collegeboard is always sending in scores really really close to the deadline, like October 28 or 29.
idk, I’m just going to give them until October 29, and if my scores still haven’t been sent then, I’ll call the colleges and CollegeBoard.
edit: I have also requested scores to be sent to UMich and those are still pending. I think it depends on the school, actually, when they decide to have the scores sent. Because some schools have already been sent reports while others say pending. My best guess is that the majority of the top schools like the Ivies are waiting for the new formatted score reports, like IntlApplicant said.
@jasli98 - I really hope you are right, mine has the additional issue of being archived. I even called UMich and they were firm that unless you have a score in on Nov 1st, you would not be considered for Early Action.
Wait what are the newly formatted score reports?
I called College board and they didn’t tell me anything about that!! They just said that this is peak time and that it might take 14business days to get the scores inputed into the computer file to be sent to the college unless you upgrade to rush then it takes max 2 days for your scores to be inputed into the computer file to be sent…
If you took the OCT sat and had the scores sent directly to the schools from that for FREE I am told they do get sent by the 28th or 29th but you would have had to do that when taking the test as part of your 4 free reports as those scores were pre inputed to go when they came out cb waits a few days until all scores are in as some peoples scores weren’t ready by the 22nd.
Update - So I called collegeboard. All of you guys are safe. They said that this week they will send all scores which were requested before Oct 24/25. The lady i spoke to said collegeboard realises many students have EA/ED deadlines. The problem comes for people with archived score reports, we are last in priority so yeah, just gotta keep our fingers crossed.
But for the rest of you, breathe easy, you are safe.
Just want to clarify RUSH SCORES are sent electronically (and not by paper anymore except for the very few colleges that don’t receive electronic reporting- not umich or UVA…). so the college doesn’t even know if you have sent them rush or not… all rush does is get CB to input your scores faster into the computer file to be sent electronically in the exact same way regular scores are sent… YOU MUST DO THIS BY WED for a Nov1 deadline at UMICH as that means CB has to get them out by Fri (they don’t input on weekends) Umich will not accept late scores.
Some colleges are more lenient on there deadlines- they say a date but will accept scores a few days after that date -but that varies by school… and according to UMICH website they are not
What does “archived scores” mean? She took the SAT last March and 5 subject tests over the last three years. But I still don’t get why scores ordered on 10/15 were marked “sent” a week ago and scores ordered on 10/16 are still marked “pending.”
I just spoke to a counselor at Santa Clara U and they said that 11/1, for them, is a hard deadline and that while there may be a small grace period, they cannot guarantee that the scores will be considered. Just FYI. At this point, I am checking with every school. I had no idea that pre-ordered score reports available on 10/22 would potentially not be logged by 11/1. Seems ridiculous in this day and age.
