14 meals/week vs. 10 meals/week

Hey everyone,

Originally I had signed up for 14 meals/week, thinking that I would have a small breakfast (paid for with Big Red Bucks) and then usually eat lunch and dinner in a dining hall. However, I've been reading posts, and it seems like the general consensus is that 14 meals/week is too many. And, considering my own eating and working habits, I'm afraid that it might become a hassle having to eat in the dining hall twice a day. I think getting a quick wrap, sandwich, or for lunch would be easier for me.

Experiences?

If you’re not going to eat Lunch on the weekends, you can get away with 10 meals/week.
It can work and I even managed to have extra BRBs at the end.
You can get dinner at a dining hall all week, so that’s 7 already. Then you can use the last three to eat lunch in a hall (most likely Okenshields), and buy nice lunches at an A la carte with BRBs. Since there are a lot of these places opened up around campus, you can grab a sandwich/soup/etc at these places between classes.
You’ll save a couple hundred.

You could go with 14 now, see how it goes, if find yourself not using all 14 meals you could always scale back. My daughter used to eat breakfast in her room because it was more convenient.

i had 10 meals/week my freshman year at first and ended up switching to 7 meals/wk second semester. since most of my classes were on the ag quad, it was super inconvenient to trek to a dining hall to use meal swipes. i ended up using a lot of BRBs for the quick grab and go meals between classes. most dining halls on campus are BRB/cash only anyway.

I’m one of the few people who used a 14 meals/week meal plan and had no issue with it. I almost always at twice a day at various dining halls, so it worked for me.

It will depend in part on how much you plan/need/like to eat. If you figure out the price of the extra swipes on the 14-meal plan as compared to the 10, they’re a bargain if you will be eating a substantial meal. If you still have a crazy-high teenage metabolism, you’d be well-served to make your way to a dining hall :)

I had 10/week and it was really good for my eating habits, since I could use more BRBs (since I eat more smaller meals instead of big meals).
