15 minutes to Cross Campus?

Hey guys,

I was looking at my schedule, and it looks like I can make it to all my class fairly easily, most are in the Arts Quad, and I'm on West Campus (doesn't look too far).

Anyway, one of my classes is at Baker Lab, and then 15 minutes after it ends, I have a class in Wing Hall. Wing hall is near BTI, Baker Lab is all the way up almost in the Arts Quad.

How can I possibly get there in 15 mins? I know there's a bus, but does it always have room (especially winter) and how often does it come? If it doesn't come until 10 mins after I leave Baker Lab, I'll have only 5 minutes to make it to Wing Hall - and I have no idea how long it would take the bus to get there.

Help? Suggestions? Thanks.

run

on a more serious note talk to the professor and explain that you will usually be late for his or her class and why so they don't think you are just lazy.

Is this for 10:10 orgo and 11:15 microbio?

please. That is not too long of a distance. If you aren't a fatty, you can make it in 15 minutes.

Are you a fatty?

If it's microbio....no one will know..it's a large lecture...just take a seat in the back. If it's microbio lab....just explain this to your lab TA...it shouldn't be a huge deal. I had a 10:10 class in Savage (very near Baker) and an 11:15 in Morrison (farther up than Wing) and it made it via walking with almost 5 minutes to spare.

Also...as an incoming student you'll have a free bus pass. You can catch bus and take it to class.

Yup, 10:10 orgo and 11:15 Microbiolgy.

Apple - no, I'm not a fatty, lol.

Dewdrop - It's lecture, thanks. I just saw it on a map and it looks like a large distance between the two, but I don't know how long it really is. I'll try walking to see if I can make it on time.

About the bus - is it crowded (especially in winter), and how will I know if it stops near Baker and goes to Wing within that time limit?

It'll probably take you around 15 min but microbio's an easy class. You won't be missing anything anyway.

It's really not that far away....I think the map makes campus look bigger than it is.

You used to play soccer man, you can do it.

AppleMuncher - you're really funny.

Oh man, this ILRie has never heard of Wing Hall... is it on the Vet Quad? (If so, is the name's pun intentional?

Wing Hall is part of the Ag Quad...believe it or not. The Ag Quad is the largest on campus...extends right up to the Vet School.

Anyone in decent shape could speed walk there with a minute to spare, I can guarantee it.

I did this exact 10:10 orgo + 11:15 microbio last year

I usually made it to microbio with at least 5 mins to spare and more if i was lucky enough to catch a bus swinging by.

Applemuncher - i really LOLed. sometimes when I say lol, i just laugh in my head. but you really made me laugh out loud. thanks =D

i had that same problem, used to go behind rockefeller through bailey plaza then catch the bus across from trillium if I saw it coming town the road in the winter (I walk way too slow in my snow boots). I walked when it was warm, but I was a couple minutes late anyway. This wasn't really b/c it was too far, it was b/c I sat in the balcony in baker and always got stuck in line to get out the door. It took me 5-8 minutes just to leave baker (esp when I was in a convo with a friend) so that's why I was late. If you sit by the doors in baker 200 then you would have no problem getting there on time.

yea i have the same thing - i'm trying to decide between neuro bio and micro bio at 11:15
i would take micro bio, but its inconveinently located
does anyone have an info on neuro bio and how they compare in terms of difficulty

Neurobio is harder.

i had the same thing, except i was in baker at 1010. i made it usually with 1 or 2 mins to spare but i HUSTLED. there are buses but that is a shot in the dark, you may be 10 mins before the next one and are stuck waiting; and of course during the winter months the bus isn't always punctual
