Should these be more artistic or direct explanations? As in, the common app big essay should definitely be more "show-dont-tell" (usually). Should this be more like that?

Yea, I too would like to know. When I turned mine in it was more of a first person narrative about one of my experiences. Should it have been more like, “And baseball has taught me that blah blah blah?”

I wrote mines like that at first, but then I changed it to more like why it is important to me while still telling what I do.

Bump. Can anyone please help? lol

I’m using the same tone and format of my common app main essay

so yeah I’m also taking the descriptive approach, not the standard “I do _____”

Okay. Like in mine, I sort of described the EC more in depth and stated exactly WHY I do it, not what I do. I reserved that for a resume. Is that ok?

I went into exactly what type of influence I have on the people I interact with in this activity and then also explained the specifics of my responsibility, as I feel it’s a bit too much to submit a resume with the application.
