I've been accepted ED to UPenn. But my 1st semester grade sucks right now. I'll probably have a C, maybe 2. And the rest all Bs.
Will this rescind my acceptnce? Will this lead to a reject? What's the limit we have to maintain?

bumpbumpbump....

This is not good at all, its horrible to work so hard and screw it up now. I would be worried, but there is still hope, push yourself and maintain contact with the admissions office. Good luck :)

lol chillout..theyre not gonna rescind your admission because of one c

Are you sure? I had straight As all throughout high school, and now my senior year semester is all Bs and couple Cs........and Penn is an ivy.
Please reassure me!! T_T

Unless you get a D or straight C's, you should be okay... What course is this C in?

AP Lit... and maybe AP Art History.
even straight Bs is ok with couple Cs?

Thanks.

Straight B's are probably okay. A lot of C's may be an issue. I think 1 C is okay though... 2 C's are probably okay, since they're in your AP classes. I've only seen people with D's-F's (or straight C-'s) get their admission rescinded.

You're screwed. Think about how many people who did NOT get in, that right now are maintaining their 4.0s. I bet they appear to want your seat more than you do.

Good luck.

.... are you serious, newest newb?

Well, what answer makes more sense?

Get bad grades >> Still go to a top university

OR

Get bad grades >> Not go to a top university.

I'm pretty sure all logic points to one of these answers.

that logic is so screwed up.

You're basically saying that they base admissions off of the first semester of your senior year.

my gift to myself after acceptances roll around is to allow myself to not care about getting Bs

dare to dream :)

Open question -- is it typical for colleges to invite explanations of poor 7th semester grades in rescinding admission? Of course if the student has a very good excuse (e.g. error in the grading system) I'm sure it would be taken seriously, but I'm wondering about the more gray-area issues. I've taken on a lot of new responsibilities (built a website for school newspaper, became an admin on a high-profile academic website, participating in class action suit, etc.), and my grades have taken a hit. If my admission (to a very competitive school) is rescinded, would I have a reasonable chance at convincing them to reverse it given those circumstances? Of course it depends on a great many factors, but any general input would be welcome. =]
