1st Semester Grades

Hi,

This year, although my schedule appears weaker when looking at my junior yr(I had 7 APs compared to only 4 this yr), the actual individual courses are considerably harder. Do you think getting the following 1st semester grades will ruin my chances at Georgetown, UVA, W&M, UPENN, Columbia, etc?

AP Calculus -B
AP Literature-B
AP Biology-B
AP Art History-A
Honors Finance IV-A
Honors Spanish III-A
Criminal Law Dual Enrollment- A

I currently have a 3.8 GPA unweighted and a 4.95 weighted.

Thanks in advance,

Your grades are excellent. They definitely won’t “ruin” your chances. Just make sure those Bs don’t turn into Cs or else those schools might think you’re slacking off a little.

Have you previously had straight-A’s.

1st semester senior year grades won’t really prevent you from getting into a school. (unless they are considered for regular decision) Mostly they are just looked at for if you are not slacking off in senior year. I’d worry more about what you did Jr year.
