2.3 GPA...will that hurt??

I had a 2.3 GPA freshmen year. Not good...I know.

This year (Sophmore year) so far:
Journalism-86
Law Ed-93
Global Studies-87
English-73 (terribly hard for some reason this year)
Biology-75 (I've pulled that up though for 2nd quarter)
All of my classes are at the CP-B level...:
-Tech
-CPA
-CPB
-Honors

-AP

I want to go to Clemson, USC (Columbia), College of Charleston, Boston U, Winthrop.. somewhere good lol. What do you think?? Will the freshmen grade hurt?

Look into colleges that dont consider freshman grades at all.

Well even if the school doesn't consider freshmen grades, those few 70's aren't gonna help at all. Really think about a tutor for english, because you're only a sophomore and it gets much harder from there (such as AP).

Your username is misleading if that's not a choice. Hah

I never get 70's in english. Always at least a B.

They'll see and consider the freshman grades, but I think you should focus on pulling them up and showing an upward trend type thing. You've still got 3 years to go. I honestly don't think most colleges will make a big deal of these grades as long as you do well in the rest of high school. I myself didn't have a great freshman year, but now I've got great grades.
But make sure you do well this year and the next 2 years.

Write your essay on it even, the possiblities are limitless! I am sure you can improve yourself, if you had a crummy frosh gpa that sky rocketted Soph/Jun year you are golden... thinks me.

and the fact that you have no honors classes isnt going to help anything

i dont get your point about the never getting 70s... its supposed to get harder every year, so if you don't step up the game you won't get the good grade. Don't think that this year just happens to be ridiculous and you'll go back to your Bs next year.

I mean, I got ONE bad test grade, that brought the grade down, because it was worth 50%. I've done fine on everything except that.

Oh okay. Heh. That's different.

Just try a little harder and maybe look into a tutor. Whenever you have tests that are 50% of your grade, go get study help from the teacher, even if you don't think you'll need it. Teachers normally let some things slip about the test material when you ask for help - most do it purposely so students will come in for help if they don't understand something in class.

Nto only will your freshman GPA hurt you, but it seems so far ur sophomore grades arent so hot either (low C's, only 1 A in non honors classes). I dont think BU will be an option, and i dont know much about the other colleges on your list. Good Luck though.

You need to pull up your grades. Good colleges really won't be at all impressed by such low grades.
