im an incoming freshman and i need some advice about taking 2 exams on the same day. my cluster's exam in dec16 at 3pm. either i get into calculus lecture 1, at 8am mwf with a dec14 exam, or lecture 3 at 1pm mwf with a dec16 exam at 8am.

so i either take my exams 2 days apart but take an 8am lecture 3x a week, or take a more comfortable schedule of 1pm lectures but have my cluster and calculus exams on the same day (4 hours apart).

is taking 2 exams on the same day really that hard?

In my opinion, you should enroll in Calculus lecture 3. From my personal experience, the learning benefits of having an optimal lecture hour outweighs the drawbacks of having two exams on the same day. Think of it this way: during the quarter, you'll be spending at least 30 hours sitting in lecture and only 3 hours writing the exam. Unless you're a morning person, you won't be fully awake and able to internalize everything you hear at 8:00 AM. You should get used to having two exams on the same day anyways, because they'll be pretty commonplace once you start taking 4 classes per quarter. I've even had three exams on the same day (from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM) this past Spring Quarter in exchange for a well-balanced, four-day schedule that offered plenty of sleep and I have no regrets!

i'd have to agree with flopsy...besides you've got a good 4 hours between exams, which is plenty of time for review. the only thing is that you'll have to be able to discipline yourself to study for both finals at the same time, which can be a bit overwhelming your first quarter...trust me I had the same situation my first quarter, and its a lot of information to review for two classes.

Thanks for the advice fellas. I signed up for calculus lecture 3. There's no way anyone can get me to wake up at 7am and miss breakfast just for a math lecture mwf (plus 1 discussion, lol). :p
