2 Questions about Monroe Scholarship

Hi everyone.
I have two questions about the monrow schoalrship...

First, do you HAVE TO live in the Monroe dorm if your a Monroe scholar? A friend said you so but I was under the imoression that it's just an option.

Second, I know that Monroe scholars get a 3000 dollar study abroad stipent, but my letter said something about full tuition payment. I'm not saying this to show off or anything, its just that the other student in my school who got Monroe only got the $3000, so I'm afraid the thing about full scholarship is a mistake. Also, I think I'm a less competitive candidate than the student who only got the $3000, so am confused why I'd get full tuitiona nd he wouldn't.

I'm worried there was a mistake made in the letter. I thought Monroe's get 3000, and Murry's get full tuition.

So confused and afraid a mistake was made.

Your help is much appreciated :) Thanks!!

No, Monroe housing is optional; if you don't want it, I'm sure you have your reasons.

As for the scholarship, it's too early for Murray, they haven't been selected yet. But that doesn't mean there's not some other award being offered to you in addition to Monroe. If you're unsure, call them and ask.

The two 'scholarship' components of Monroe do not apply to tuition - one is a $3000 guaranteed scholarship for a summer research project of your own design. The other is $1000 for a freshman year summer research project, and is optional and competitive - that is, not guaranteed.

mcgmfc, definitely call and ask ASAP about the tuition. That is a very good news for you possibly. You need to know one way or the other.

Did you see if the full tuition was for the William and Mary Scholar Award? I was offered both Monroe and W&M award, so maybe that's what you got too.

if you got $$$ for tuition, it is unrelated to the Monroe program.

and no, living in Monroe is not required.

Hmmm, not sure. I got into Monroe program as well and received the equivilant of instate tuition for each year and $3000 research money. Buuut I dont know anything about what everyone else is receiving
