So I searched and couldn’t find a thread for either of these…

When is the earliest date one can apply to UMich? I read in the acceptance thread about people applying around 9/14; does anyone know the exact date (if there even is one)?

This is a little more broad: does UMich, being a huge public school, place a lot of weight on GPA/SATs? Or are they really big into well-roundedness? I am an OOS junior with a 1460/2230 SAT and 4.0 uw GPA. But I’m worried that my extra-curriculars, though sufficient, will fail to make me stand out.

Thanks guys!

I think I had literally no extra-curriculars without counting things I started my senior year. Then I had random things like Quiz Bowl and Youth Group. And not very many of those things at all, like 3 or 4. Apply early with a 4.0 and you should be set. I had a 3.9. 32 on the ACT. Applied at the end of September.

Thanks for the input awheio!

GPA is weighed more heavily than SAT/ACT (not to say that SAT/ACT, EC's, etc. aren't important).

I believe the earliest you can apply is sometime in September (I don't think UMich releases the application at the same time every year?)

Because of the size of the school and the large amount of applications that they get, they are very much driven by statistics. With solid stats, such as a 4.0, you'll be completely fine. If you're more borderline, then essays and ECs will be scrutinized more closely.

Thanks guys!
