A great big thank you to the photographers for the 2010 Indoctrination: MIDN Lt. Peter Bizzaro 1/C, MIDN Lt. Mickey Hand 1/C, MIDN ENS Ben Christian 1/C, and MIDN Judith Jaime 3/C.

The extra effort you took to finish posting Indoc's last days after Academic Year was underway is much appreciated.

There are a lot of great memories and great stories behind those photos.

As parents who could not be present, we are very grateful for this window on this important milestone for our midshipman at Kings Point.

Best wishes for a successful Academic Year!

The Class of 2010 has the distinction of enduring the hottest Indoc since the founding of the US Merchant Marine Academy in 1943.

USA TODAY reported that 2006 was the hottest summer in 70 years. It was the 2nd hottest summer since the government started tracking nationwide temperatures in 1895. The hottest summer in 1936 was only .23 dgrees hotter than 2006.

Also, 2006 was the 2nd hottest July on record according to the National Climatic Data Center.

Good job completing a very hot Indoc Class of 2010. Thank goodness for the cooler weather we've had recently.

My son had heat related health problems twice (dehydration and fever). We are really soft to the heat out here in the PNW!!!

I'd suggest to any new candidate that lives in a temperate climate to jog daily with sweats on to get used to vigorous exercise in the heat!
