I was completely stressed the whole time. I went back and fized a lot of my E&M MC because i had a lot of time left over. Mech was pretty annoying, but not impossible.

I felt about as confident as I did on my finals, which were AP multiple choices. If those were any indicator of my performance, I just need 10 or so points total on FRQ.

hey for those of you talking about the raw score out of 90, is that calculated by taking the 45 points from the FR and adding it to the multiple choice times a multiplier that makes it equal 45?

just trying to gauge this haha.

yeah this "AP year" has been a tale of two halves for me lol. My MC scores have been off the charts, but my FR has been less than stellar, save Mechanics.

After thinking some more, I probably have something like a combined 15 points on the first two problems and a 14 or 15 on the last one...at least I hit my target of 30 for the FR.

thecubswin(thats never gonna happen LOL): yeah, it's 45/(number of scored questions, usually 35) times your raw MC score, and then you add that to the FR score. You need a 50 for a 5 on E and M, so a 22/22 on the test (MC raw score/FR) is enough.

mc in mechanics were pretty standard, fr also ok, together I think I am good for a 4. any ideas about the cutoff this year, I'm kind of worried that it was easier this year.

mc in E&M was hard, first 2 mc was ok. worst case scenario might be around 40/90. what range would that be in?

The 2004 AP Physics C E/M:
5 45-90
4 30-44
3 23-29
2 14-22
1 0-13

I though this year's MC and FRQ were both harder than the 2004 E/M
test. A lot more "random" MC questions that were asked in a particulary interesting way.

wow so basically if we get the e/m multiple choice all correct we barely needed to bother with the free response?! that makes me feel a LOT better.

on a related note, i felt that barron's did an excellent job at preparing me for the E&M multiple choice. i've been hearing that a lot of people thought the e/m MC was hard and there were unfamiliar questions. however, i felt that with barrons, i had seen all these questions ahead of time.

mech was pretty eaassy, but i didn't finish either the m/c section or the FRQ.
UGH. i couldn't done so much better if i paced myself.
overall, it was a pretty doable test.

Thank you all for being careful not to discuss questions here. And whoever said it was 48 HOURS is right. (And NEVER for MC questions.)

Physics08,
what did the score ranges look like for mech on the 2004 exam?

I only took the Mechanics section.

Out of the 4 AP tests I took, this is the only exam I am upset about. Multiple choice problems were quite easy, however, being a person who always is careful, I would double check my answers. I even double checked the beginning problems which were really a joke. From this, time ran out before I could reach the end. Closing that test booklet, seeing the problems I omitted, really killed me as if I was closing my outlook in physics. I only completed probably more than 2/3 of the MC section which got me ****ed, I knew I could answer them all except two or three. I still had some hope left however.

That hope got crushed with the Free Response. I got screwed with one of the three problems, had trouble with another, and took a long time with the other remaining. It was those times where hundreds of concepts would try to apply itself into the problems presented, some valid, and some speculative.

I thought this would be the easiest exam for me, but apparently not. Even though the other participants were disgusted with their own performance, I was really ashamed of myself that entire day. I truly do have an interest in Physics, I would be the only person in the class that did well in almost every section we discussed, and I loved the challenge from the physics problems that would otherwise **** the hell out of others. What adds salt to the wound was that I really wanted to express my gratitude to my physics teacher by trying to get a 4 or 5 in that exam: he never had one student get such score, about 9/10 of his class got 1s or 2s. I'm expecting a 3 but I could get a 4 if almost every answers in MC is correct.

I can't blame the teacher, but on myself, for underestimating this exam and not practicing for it. I only did one practice test and it was very informal. I'm all cooled down now :)

don't be so hard on yourself

Don't worry, I'm feeling great now. It was those times where you knew that the emotion and shame you felt would end quickly and be dismissed by your future self :)

I thought E/M was hard for MC... I blanked out on a bunch.
FR was pathetically easy, why??!! I don't know.
I just knew how to do them... huh... talk about lucky self-studying.
That was weird.
Mech. was weird. Forgot like... stuff.

ne one want to discuss E and M #2 answerss?!!!!

Was that Gauss's Law?
