Whooo Hoooo! Congratulations! I've been checking every day to see when someone would be admitted. You're first!!!

My kid's application to UCONN was complete on 11/1. My kid loved UCONN during our college visit, but unless they offer enough money to bring it down to the cost of Pitt, Penn State or SUNY Buffalo, I don't think it's possible. Anyway, we'll be camping by the mailbox now! Stats are top 1/3 of a competitive H.S., SATs 640M, 640V, 700W, ACT 31, 13 college and AP credits to date, and the usual activities, sports, etc. One parent is an alumni.

Our in state tuition for Pitt is $11,368 + $770 required fees + 7,550 room and board = $19,688. PSU is about the same cost as Pitt for in-state, within a hundred or three. These are my baseline costs for college, since they're both good schools and offer a lot. To go somewhere else that costs more, there has to be a really good reason.

Out of state tuition for UCONN is $18,600 + $1.816 fees + 7,704 room and board = $28,120 Since you're in-state for UCONN, this would be flipped around for you!

These costs were grabbed quickly from the Internet, and may not be current but they give you the idea. Although my kid has a lot of schools on the list (and UCONN would be at the top if money were no object), we're probably going to come down to Pitt, SUNY Buffalo (a big school with a pharmacy school that is cheaper than Pitt or PSU) and PSU, due to cost. Ohio schools have some good scholarship deals so we're not ruling them out, and Duquesne is still in the running for pharmacy.

I got accepted today! I'm ridiculously happy it came in only a month. I applied on 11/7 and it came today. I guess I'm pretty lucky considering NJ's supposedly the hardest state to get in from.

My son received his UConn acceptance packet today. He was admitted to the Engineering School and the Honors Program. His application had been submitted online on 10/31.

I got accepted on Thursday. Are we supposed to get info on the Honors College in the acceptance packet or does that come later? I think I qualify, but I didn't receive anything...

Admanrich, the first paragraph of my son's acceptance letter mentioned that he was accepted to the School of Engineering but also contained the information that he had been admitted to Honors College. The letter then went on to talk about the Honors College a bit. My son's SAT's were fine for Honors College but his class rank was not in the top 3-4% that UConn mentions as being typical for Honors College. His high school only gives decile ranks and my son is second decile. (Probably around 12th percentile if it were to be figured out.) It may well be that his high school's good academic reputation helped a bit there. Or, the process of selection may be more holistic than SAT's and rank. Perhaps you can make a quick call to the Admissions Office about Honors College.

Bossf51, fingers crossed for your daughter!! Maybe tomorrow will be the day. My son's letter was dated December 16th and he received it on December 16th. Go figure!
