2008 Official Brown Waitlist Thread

SpicyChipmunk-did she say how the 67 kids were notified, by phone or letter?
Thanks for all your help by the way!! :)

No, she didn't say if all of the kids were called or not. However, she did confirm that all of the acceptance packages were sent out yesterday (mine arrived today in NH), so if you got in you should be hearing pretty soon. Again, it's always worth a try to give them a call :). I really hope you all get good news! Let me know if there's anything else I can do.

allo: i am from s. california, accepting brown's offer, and was previously committed to berkeley

hey spicychipmunk, how did you acceptance letter arrive? by regular mail (us post office), ups, etc?

Oh by the way, I called to ask about the regional rep and the lady would only give me her name and her assistant's email address. nothing else...

My letter arrived by FedEx.

Oh, and I was previously committed to Dartmouth.

was it overnight delivery?

I called my regional admissions officer. He said that I will be receiving a letter next week. He did say it was good news and bad news.

Are they mailing rejection letters next week?

I am really hoping for an acceptance letter.

How can a letter (acceptance or rejection) be both good news and bad news? That's confusing. Maybe it's a letter offering a place in the class of 2013?

So far, I haven't recieved anything. :(
FedEx usually comes kinda late to my house, though.

I would not mind accepting a place in the next class. I skipped a grade in middle school, anyway.

My regional admissions officer said that my letter will be mailed on Friday.

How long will FedEx take, if they use FedEx, to mail a letter to Souhtern California?

Do you have to sign for FedEx packages?

manders21390, I asked him how the letter could be good news and bad news, but he would not tell me the reason.

maybe it is extended waitlist for some, rejection for others?

I asked my regional admissions officer about an extended waitlist, but he said something about multiple rounds.

Will the wave include acceptances and rejections?

Good luck nhsharvard :) I'm really curious as to what the news is!

Yes, it was mailed overnight.

Thanks, Spicychipmunk. I called admissions, like you said, and I received the information, earlier.

I did not receive a phone call, but I hope it's good news.

Last month, I did send a letter to them. My alumni interview did make my case to admissions, also.

Like I asked earlier, will the wave be a combination of acceptances and rejections? Or will it be composed of 67 letters containing acceptances?

If all the acceptances were mailed would other acceptances be mailed Friday? My alumni interview mentioned that my letter will be mailed on Friday.

If all acceptances were sent yesterday, could acceptances be sent Friday?

Has anyone been accepted so far without getting a phone call??

You guys should call and ask. I guess what they did was that they accepted some kids and then flat out rejected others and will be sending out possible waitlist offers later on.

I live in Michigan...how long should it take to get here? This is so nerve-wracking!

nsharvard, don't be so nervous... Brown admission staff routinely crawls through this forum to find un-cool candidates to be dropped from the wait list :O
