thank You! southeastit an

if anyone would like for me to show you a part of my story, please ask. but i cannot show you the entire thing. this is because i do not want you to steal it.

^ Oh snap! All my plans of glory...RUINED.

SEtitan: I've received no reply as well. I don't think they're going to be harsh though.

Smartdude, have you considered sending that particular piece in to be evaluated for the Pulitzer? Honestly you are not a shoo-in or anything but you definitely will have a chance! After all, you are REALLY smart.

Ah! I submitted from Region-At-Large (Long Island), and I got TWO gold keys in a gigantic package today! Cool! I didn't get anything in my email, though...

^^^ Whoa...that's REALLY early compared to last year. Congratulations, though! What categories did you enter?

If they really have started mailing the RAL stuff, I'm going to be pretty nervous over the next couple of days.

i got a gold key for my general writing portfolio! moving to nationals. i know that about 50 general writing portfolios earn national recognition, but does scholastic reveal the total number of general writing portfolios it has received from across the country? i want to know my chances.

yeah im from nyc and results came to me in like february. you need a gold key to advance to nationals. so announcements should be sometime this week...hmnn
btw ravenink, the ceremony is at columbia? isnt at the brooklyn museum? it says brooklyn museum ceremony on my sheet...

They've already started giving RAL notifications...? I'm getting nervous >-<

WHATWHATWHATWHATWHATWHATWHAT

Now I'm going to have to stalk the mailbox. GOD. I hope you're happy.

ac37 -- That's odd.. Is your gold key in art or in writing?

On my sheet it says: "On Thursday, May 8, 2008, the Gold Key and Silver Key award recipients will be celebrated at Radiant Minds, the NYC regional awards ceremony. The ceremony will be held at Columbia University's Alfred Lerner Hall in the Arledge Auditorium located at 2920 Broadway."

Wow, results are coming out? Methionine, what did you submit?

Oh, man, I am super nervous now. Where do you guys who got RAL notified live?

Has ANYBODY heard anything about the short-short-story word limit being changed? I swear to God it was 3,000 when I submitted it, but they changed it to 1,300 afterwards and nobody's responding to my emails about it.

wow, this applies to me as well. i sent in a short story just under 3k one around 1,500... blahhhh. oh well, maybe it was a typo? how could they possibly change the requirements after the fact? :/

ravenink-- oh that was silly of me...mine was in art and yours was in writing...

Nobody else from RAL notified?

I guess not...false alarm, perhaps?

No. We live in CA and our son entered several photos in the RAL category but hasn't heard a thing...

I'm guessing it should be coming around this month.

I'm a writer from the RAL and my teacher was notified and told me today during class. Nothing has come to me personally yet. I won two Gold Keys, one in Humor and one in Journalism!!! I'm still excited. I entered five pieces knowing that all contests are something of a crapshoot regardless of how good you are.
