how do we package everything (writing submission general portfolio)? my comp. is blocking the website.. and i have no idea why! :/

@southeasttitan: The limit's 200 lines, so just send it on its own. Unless you want to slip in a haiku or someting. :) There aren't any rules for formatting.

1) I am in Region-at-Large, and they say that earlier registration is "encouraged," but the deadline is tomorrow. I will be sending my work in tomorrow. Am I at a disadvantage?

2) We only need to fill out one form and get one teacher signature for all of our entries, right?

3) Has a freshman ever won anything? Lol.

^^^ No, you need TWO entry forms PER entry.

this thread saved my life, especially because I'm doing this last minute. I kept clicking on "guidelines" to find the RAL address, but the new window kept coming up BLANK. I was FREAKING out, but then I thought to check here and THANK GOD laugh-cry posted the address. THANK YOUUUUU. (I dunno what's wrong with the site/my computer that it came up blank.) :D

so i could basically do this whole thing online and i dont have to send anything in? phedre-same thing in my situation :/

on the "Register for Art/Writing/Portfolio"
where it says teachers.. how do they get those names? I have donna kerr.. but i dont know who this is. what's the deal with this? thanks :P

is it ok if i submit a writing port by tomorrow AND an art one by the 11th?
and i can mail it in right? the online submission.. doesnt seem to be working very well..

There's an even distribution of winners amongst age groups. So no senior clumps.

You haven't been to the winner's gallery? o_o

You can't submit anything online. You register on the website, but you have to mail the actual work.

Everything has to be postmarked by TOMORROW. Meaning, if you're going to enter, you have to drop it by the post office tomorrow. They make it sound like they won't accept late entries.

has anyone else been having any problems with the registration online?
do i have to register at the same time for the art and writing? and just send it in at different times? what the deal. thanks

Can I use a teacher from a different school?

Marimare, it seems like most 13-14 year old winners are in 6-8th grade, so they're in Group 1... idk. I've seen a couple of 14 year olds from HS's win, too.

so, if im doing the general portfolio, i put all my poems (4) under the same category "poetry" and title it "collection of poetry"?

Does a collection count as an individual submission (meaning I only have to pay 5 dollars for two poems)?

^^ Yep. 10 char.

Mailed. :d

It seems like almost everyone here is in Region-at-Large, which means that after today...we're done!!!! What's everybody entering?

I'm sending a short story, poetry, and a memoir (yay for picking all the most popular categories). :)

I sent two personal essays/ memoirs.. Though I think one of them will be disqualified because I had my name on it. I couldn't really take my name out as... it was about my name... :)

Mailed. Whew.

I sent a short short story, "Dust Poems," and a personal essay, "Words Like Music."

I'd be interested to hear the titles of everybody's, too. Also, for those of you who submitted either short stories or short short stories, what did you use to decide between the two categories?

Personal Essay: "Prioritizing"

NOOOOOO

I just realized I submitted the non-online submission form instead of the online submission form. Since I got my signatures and sent it in the mail BEFORE i fully registered my work (I did everything else first because the post office was closing), I thought there was only one submission form. Gaaaaaah.
