Thanks nyu44, actually i got my fourth email right after i posted my question..

sixstring-what college are you applying too?

im applying to stern

woooooo, finally submitted my nyu app. it's a huge weight off my shoulders, but now thats being replaced by an even huger weight of knowing we won't find out for three months haha.

yeah, i was pretty paranoid about my application to. Now i don't think i have much of a chance so i'm not expecting much.

which college did you apply to nyujosh?

sixstringaddict, i am totally feeling the same way. I thought maybe there was a small chance, but after looking over my whole app, I really have no clue why they would accept me so i guess we'll see! I'm applying to steinhardt, but double majoring (hopefully) within CAS too. this wait is going to kill me haha.

NYUjosh- i dont think you can double major in two different schools.

yes you can, as long as you apply to the specialized school (ie steinhardt, tisch, stern, etc.) as your primary school and then declare a secondary major in CAS.

Oh really, cause i remember my cousin asking them and they told him that he could only double major in the same school.

that only applies to CAS.

taken from nyu website: "If you enroll in CAS you will not be able to pick up a major (or a minor) through Steinhardt. You could, however, apply directly to Steinhardt and then pick up a double major (or a minor) through CAS."

Oh i see. I didnt know that.

NYUjosh - does this also mean that if you enroll in Stern you can pick up a double major through CAS?

Thanks.

Yup, you can double major in CAS, as long as your primary school is stern.

guys, is there a way to see which supplemental forms NYU received? Is there a checklist or something. im getting paranoid wondering if they got my transcripts and stuff.

nyu44, i'm also looking at NYU for transfer for the fall and was wondering if you could ansser a few questions for me. I initially started off at a 4 year school as an engineering major, hated it and was performing poorly, left to go to community college for a fresh start and to save my parents some money, and now have a 3.0-3.1 gpa. i was wondering:
a) how much does work/internship experience related to your major offset a lower gpa. i know many nyu transfers have a 3.75ish gpa, which i cannot approach by the end of this semester even with a 4.0 semester gpa, but i have had one internship in state government and am completing a second internship currently for a very large private company in DC in their government affairs office while taking classes at georgetown as a visiting student. i've heard various anecdotal stories stating that internship experience with good letters of recommendation from said internships can help offset a lower gpa.
b)i know you said that the school doesn't look at SAT scores for transfers. does this mean that even ifi send them that they aren't considered? i test exceptionally well and have over 700 in each section of the test and was hoping the scores, combined with my internship experience, would help offset my lower than average for nyu transfer gpa.

thanks in advance

to sixstringaddict,

there's really no way of directly finding out whether all you're supplementary material is in until the deadline starts to come around. But I'm sure if you email them, they'd be happy to check, although they're pretty unconcerned with transfers right now since they're working on freshman. I'd say ask around the beginning of march; around the april deadline in general is when they email applicants as to whether all of their materials are in or not. Just wait a couple months, and check in and you'll be fine.

Thanks nyujosh. Do you have the email of the admissions department by any chance. I tried to find it but i could only find a forum to ask your question to.

I don't think they have email of the admission department. I had to ask through the forum which is not really private.

dhetzel1-I know that ec's are important to NYU, but I dont know if internships can offset your gpa.

The Sat question, if you send it in, they will considered it, but if you are applying for junior status, it will mean less to them.

can someone let me know what the address is to send the recommendation letter to?

i can't seem to find it on nyu's web site
