Hi, has anybody recieved their transfer admissions decisions yet?... I heard that ND would start releasing them in the begining of May and its its been uncomfortably quiet on my end (California). Thanks.

They usually don’t make decisions until they receive your final grades. Have you sent your final grades? It will likely be a couple weeks after that.

Unfortunately my spring semester doesn’t end for another two weeks so I haven’t sent in my grades. I am finishing my fourth semester at my current school now so I was wondering if that might help admissions make a decision w/out my final grades considering I had quite a few credits on my transcript already. Also, do you think I could submit my mid term grades to suffice until I can send in my finals?

Sorry I ask so much but I 've read some of your other posts and you seem pretty knowledgable, Thanks.

I got in this week! My spring semester just ended… They don’t have my marks so it was completely unexpected but a nice surprise =D

Congratulations elwaffle! Did you get your decision in the mail, e-mail, or over the phone?

They will mail everybody. Some people may get phone calls.

Thanks jason I’ll keep checking the mail

BTW anybody accepted or rejected, feel free to post your stats, Thanks

I applied but the strange thing is they didn’t ask for a revised transcript when asking for grades. I applied for this past semester and was denied and when i applied this time they just asked for a transcript but it didn’t have to be updated. Yet i decided to send a new one over and my grades took a huge hit (3.8 -> 3.02) - for family reasons. So i may have inadvertently sealed my fate. We’ll see though

deuspatriND> I know how you feel, I’m waiting on pins and needles…

How likely is it that transfer applicants get housing? I know it isn’t guaranteed, but I’ve read that 76-80% of undergraduates stay in housing, so I would think there is room…

i would be pleasantly surprised if ND did not have enough housing for transfers. I though I remember saying that freshmen are “required” (i know that there are some exceptions) to stay on campus, but for anyone who wants to stay on campus, they guaranteed that they would provide housing.

Why would that ‘pleasantly’ surprise you?

This would surprise me because ND’s culture has a lot to do with dorm life and the traditions and rituals that one finds in each dorm. A lot of ND’s tradition is built into their dorms and dorm life, and I would be surprised if they did not let transfers experience this as well.

I’ve read some posts/stories where admitted transfer students were initially waitlisted for housing only to have a spot open for them just before they arrived on campus, so I think the availibility must be hard to gauge untill the start of the next semester… I agree the hall system is really one of the unique qualities about ND and if I do get accepted I hope they’ll have enough room for all of us!

Availability of housing has been very promising over the last few semesters, the University being able to house everyone who wanted on-campus housing except perhaps a very small number of cases. If you are admitted, do look around for off-campus options, but the chances that you will be forced off-campus for your first-semester is unlikely.

I agree with Jason, housing has gotten better, especially with the building of new dorms! When I transferred I was 60th on a list of 65 men who were all waiting for housing. I got in after the first semester. Being off-campus for a semester wasn’t the end of the world, you make due, but luckily you will probably not have to experience that anymore.

Thats a relief to hear that there is more on campus housing this year.

I don’t know if anybody else has been keeping up with some of the other ND threads like the Freshmen waitlist one, but it seems that this year Notre Dame has gone deeper into their waitlist. Do you think this might be any indicator/ or have any any effect on the overall number of transfers accepted for the fall?

doubtful - the income frosh and transfers wouldn’t have any connection - maybe more to do with the retention rate of last years classes and how many people left for cheaper schools but i think their acceptance is a relatively fixed amount on a year by year basis

I was thinking that more applicants might choose more affordable/ state schools. I think the cc applicants from the 2008 ND transfers thread started recieving their decisions around this week last year so I have my fingers crossed that well hear soon.

anybody else get news this weekend? i still havent heard. good luck to everyone!

elwaffle-- what is your major? i’m wondering if the decisions come out according to when the head of each department finishes looking at its own applications…?
