<p>Horatio Alger receives ~50,000 applications, but many of them are incomplete and some of the applicants aren’t even eligible. I’ve heard that last year, they put HEAVY emphasis on GPA, income, and any other adversities. The average national scholar recipient had an income of ~15k.</p>
<p>that is killer. i hate to think about something already submitted (nothing i can do now), but i regret a lot of stuff in my application. i tried to finish it asap, ugh. the scholarship emphasizes adversity, and i feel like my life was waaay better than many applicants. as much as i want to win, i should be more grateful.</p>
