Okay so as I get closer and closer to actually attending Emory I am getting more and more freaked out about going random, anyone else in this position?

Shouldn't be a problem since I bet the majority of college students nationwide are matched with a roomie by the school.
I did find a roomie on learnlink.

i didn't either but, seeing as how only about 100 of the 600 guys actually posted, i'm not too worried. the girls seem to be way ahead of the guys in this department.

found my roommate during April Open House :D

no worries here

Hopefully, I get a single room as I requested.

Although if I get stuck with a double, I'm not worried about a randomly assigned roommate.

I don't see the point of selecting your own roommate. First impressions can be deceiving; it's possible for one to hand pick a roommate and then, after getting to know the roommate well, end up hating him/her. On the other hand, an assigned roommate might work out very well. I wonder if statistically hand picked roommates are more likely to stay together after freshman year than randomly assigned roommates. My guess is that statistically the difference is negligible.

you get to pick your roommate @ emory? and question to blaze: why did you choose single? (just wondering)

Yes. From my understanding, if two people mutually agree to room together and fill out their housing applications accordingly, then Emory will honor this.

Why I want a single --- 1) I enjoy being alone by nature 2) Turman West has spacious dorm rooms and nice accommodations
3) I am a misanthrope (just kidding!)

On the downside, Turman West is farther away from central campus than other dorms, and is presumably less apt for meeting a lot of people, though I warrant it has its own sense of community.

looks like the roomate selection process is over. i read online that you cannot make any changes to the housing application after may 30th. hope you already made all the corrections to your app!
