2011 AP Statistics Thread

i don't know why there isn't one already, so i took the initiative to create one!

Personally i'm really nervous, anyone else feel that way?

My teacher’s given us probably 5 free response tests from previous years so I feel pretty confident as to what I have to do. The only thing I’m kind of worried about is memorizing all the different kinds of bias and obsolete information like that.

I am getting a one–no doubt in my mind

question 6 is definitely gonna be difficult though, although it always is

I am pretty confident that at least half of my class of 6 people (including me) will get 5’s. We have done four full-length MCs and like 15 free response questions. The hardest MC’s, I think, are the ones about designing experiments, which tests to use, confidence intervals, etc.

Here’s a nice site to use for some last minute review n_n

My teacher expects a 5 out of me but based on how I’ve been doing on practice multiple choice and free response, and considering that people are saying that this year’s tests are a LOT more difficult than usual, I don’t expect anything above a 4.

I’m expecting this year’s Investigative Task (Question #6) to be extremely difficult. After taking the Calculus AB exam and reading what other people are saying about 2011 FRQ’s, they’re all marginally more challenging than previous years due to the change in multiple choice scoring. My suggestion would be to skip straight to #6 as soon as time starts because of how much more it counts towards your final AP score than the other FRQ’s, and since it’s probably going to take a lot of work. I expect myself to have to skip one of the #1-5 FRQ’s in order to get a decent amount of points from #6, especially with this increased difficulty.

6 is only worth 25% of the FRQ. Assuming you’re in stats, you would now that 25% is not a majority but it’s not less than .05 so we can’t reject the null…

@mtv22: I meant that individually, question #6 is worth more than any of the other FRQ’s. It’d be better to get #5 completely wrong or to completely skip over it than it would be to get #6 completely wrong or to completely skip over it. By doing #6 before the others, you don’t risk not having enough time to complete it and get as many points as you can on a question that gives you marginally more points.

Oh I see what you’re saying. My teacher told us to do the same thing today. I don’t think I will though because I’m not worried at all about running out of time. I’ve taken like 5 practice tests and finish easily within an hour, mind you I may be cutting a few corners but I don’t think time will be a problem.

Are you guys freaking out yet? lol. I’m kind of nervous. Do any of you have released tests?

i have yet to find one, i really should though, they help a lot.

i found this website though, for anyone that feels they want some help: [Stat Trek: Teach yourself statistics](http://stattrek.com)

Thanks guargum! This is my first AP so I’m pretty nervous. I’m a freshman…so this is all kind of scary  Do any of you know how the difficulty of the practice tests from 5 steps to a 5 compare to that of the actual AP tests?

Hello there, i have four relased tests, but i dont know where they’re from. They only released '97,'02,'07 and '08…

Shouldn’t be that difficult- even if the FRQs are harder this year, the curve will be adjusted accordingly.

Also, I have a 2002 released exam link. PM me if you want to trade something in return for the link.

Well, I don’t know about the whole test, but I have about 4 full MC packets, and the open ended can be found on collegeboard AP Stat, so in a way I have the full test…? And you can find the MC online. You just have to know the first question to the MC packet. But, I feel kind of prepared. My teacher absolutely sucks, but my boyfriend is amazing and he has my class. Lol. He’s been teaching me more than my teacher. The good thing is my teacher gives good review problems/packets.

I’m shooting for a 4. I guess you have to be suuuuper technical with all your steps to get a 5.

it’s not too bad guys! I took a full length AP practice test in class and got a 5! I got 14 multiple choice wrong, 2 fours, 3 threes, and a 2 on number six. So if you think about it, collegeboard is pretty generous with its fives

I think I’m pretty screwed. Hoping for a 4 but probably gonna end up with a 3. What does the formula sheet include that they give us, and what parts of the exam can we use it on?
I’ve slowly been getting better at MC’s although I should probably start practicing some FRQs
Here’s a link, hope it helps
