2011 Going off their waitlist

has anyone heard anything for UNC-Chapel Hill or Vanderbilt?

My friend called Vandy admissions on behalf of S and they said next week.

D got a phone call today…she’s in!

Kadelson: from Vanderbilt? Which program?

The last two posts (#142 and #143) with only ten minutes of difference… are giving completely different feedback about the Wait list at Vanderbilt… What a discrepancy!

There is another post on the Vanderbilt thread claiming an acceptance from WL. Maybe admissions person was referring to Round 2?

Lehigh will not use the wait list.
Connecticut College is using the wait list.
Wake Forest has not gone to the wait list as of today.

Congrats to kadelson’s D! Here’s hoping many more CCers will get off the WL at Vandy!

My D just received a call from Colby that she was accepted off the wait list. She is ecstatic! And she happened to be home, after her AP exam, when the call came in. She has 24 hours to respond, but there is no doubt in her mind that her answer is yes. The Admissions Rep was really nice.

Will continue to be interesting to see how the wait lists move at various schools.

Congrats Kadelson and spinart! Way to go!

Do most schools only give 24 hours to respond to getting off the waitlist? Or, will osme give up to a week which seems reasonable to me.

Off Oberlin waitlist!

imak! What’d you do to get off the waitlist? Hopefully I’ll receive a call soon Oberlin’s a top choice!

Look at it from their point of view. School X needs to fill the spots. School X know other schools are filling their spots and more spots are going to open at School X as their class gets calls from other schools. If School x gives everyone a week, in a week School X will have more openings and fewer candidates.

By this time you should have a pretty good idea of what you need from a school to accept their offer.

If you’re on multiple waitlists their not going to give you time to play them off of eachother. If you can’t give them an answer they’ll move on because they need to fill the spots.

^I have seen some posters report that they had 7 days to decide (but I think it was big state schools). I agree – adcoms want to nail this down as quickly as possible.

Having said that, if you’re WL at multiple schools and all are preferred to the school where you put down a deposit by May 1, and of your WL schools, 1 is the clear favorite but you hear from WL School #3 first, you might (and I’m not advocating this – just putting it out there) deposit at WL School #3 then if WL School #1 comes through, forgo 2 deposits and end up at WL School #1.

I have no stomach for that. Once D got off 1 WL, we said farewell to the others.

sent letter of interest, extra recommendations, and updated transcript. got phone call this afternoon. have until monday to accept.

I understand your point Sportfire. My son is only on 1 waitlist, which was one of his top 3 schools. He deposited last week at another school which was also one of his top 3 which he will be very happy with. The waitlist school is more prestigious and closer to home but he wasn’t focusing on it since he wasn’t admitted. So he needs to be ready to decide if contacted.

Did anyone hear from Brandeis?

I just talked to a mom who said her son was called by Clemson yesterday.

I guess by the absence of Georgetown, Wellesley, Holy Cross they have not gone to the wait list yet???
