2011 RD decisions this week :)

The admit rate is pretty scary, but it’s absolutely frightening that 1590 and 35 are the 75th percentile. That’s definitely higher than at other top schools…at least as of last year. However it’s possible that the admitted Class of 2015 profile will be similar at other top schools, because they, like Vandy, had large increases in application numbers. It certainly is a tough year.

1590 @ 75% is on par w/ the Freshman Classes at HYPSM. Sheesh.

I am aware that this is not the actually admitted stats, but dang. Almost 25% of applicants had PERFECT scores? Good lawd.

^That’s what I was thinking =(

Since 15% is overall admit rate, ED and RD both included, then the admit rate for just RD will be… single digit!!!

Is the CR + M middle 50% by individual? Or just combined the separate Middle 50’s for CR and Math?

IDK if that made sense. Like if CR middle 50% is 720-800 and Math is 720-790, is that how they found the middle 50% CR + M? Or are there actually about 25% of students who had a perfect score in both? I never really thought about it like this before.

I have to see it to believe it.
Would somebody make an official decision thread?

I can honestly say that this surprises me.

This makes me think that applying early is a huge advantage.

Good luck everyone

25% have 1590+ and 35+, not necessarily all perfect ;p
but yeah that is pretty incredible to believe… :s

I guarantee the ATTENDING stats are significantly lower.
Judging from class of 2014’s ATTENDING stats, I predict the ranges to be more reasonable:
ACT: 30-34
SAT (CR + M): 1380-1540
SAT (CR + M + W): 2040-2280 (They are counting Writing this year so I thought a 2400 scale range would be more relevant.)

Anyone agree w/ me?

I don’t understand why everyone is so shocked. Vanderbilt is a top tier school and the number of applicants is raising while vandy only has 1,600 spots. A lot of people who get into the ivys also applied to vandy as a “back up” in a sense (I know, that’s sick). For example, several kids from my school applied to 10+ schools and their lists included ivys, vandy, washu, northwestern etc. These stats shouldn’t SHOCK anyone because it’s happening across the country with several schools.

Hopefully, this will mean waitlists will be used more because those same people who have 36s might also get into HYPSM etc and go there instead.

urgh now i regret being an international student even though it is supposed to help me to get in! cant wait anymoreeeeeee guysssss

Why would you regret being an international student? That gives you a huge advantage.

I saw the 1440-1590 and got confused because I hadn’t noticed that it was CR+M :D

anyways, I’m in as a CV scholar, best of luck to the rest of you!!!

@CED… Are you serious? The international applicant pool – for most other countries – has severe competition. There is a limited number of spots for internationals at American colleges, and hence it is harder to get in as an international.

The internationals have an advantage over much of the pool - those that are not considered URMs. Vandy is one school that has been very open that they are looking for the URMs to increase their diversity. That, coupled with Vandy’s commitment to meet need are advantages.

I’m under the impression that very few international students are URMs. My understanding is that most are ORMs (e.g., Asian).

hey, I am Russian
though im really not sure i am going to get in
one more day!

:) Aliiisa
Я из Беларуси

Hope we both get in!!!

Those stats are kind of insane though. What is it with the graduating class of 2011? The stats and number who applied went wayyy up at Emory and even schools like UGA. I’m super nervous though.

Everyone please post as soon you’ve heard anything!

I live 20 minutes from campus and just got the mail. Nothing today, guess it’ll be tomorrow. These stats make me think I’d be lucky to get waitlisted.
