2011 RD decisions this week :)

My S got into Vandy and Notre Dame and both of the schools mentioned that this year was by far the most competitive applicant pool in the school’s history. So I’m not surprised. Also my S overlooked applying for any of the Vandy scholarships, so when I spoke to the Fin Aid dept. and asked if there was anything that he may receive that didn’t require an application they said ‘no’ but not to worry because it was nearly impossible to secure a scholarship this year because of the intense competition. So I even went as far as to say that he had a 34 on the ACT and the woman stated that they wouldn’t cut it this year. She said in years past it would have been fine, but this year they were looking for 36.

In any case, good luck to everyone. They aren’t giving us a penny of fin aid nor a scholarship so I’m 99.9% sure we will be declining the acceptance. So there should be an open spot for someone who wants it. Congrats to everyone who gets in and gets a scholarship!

How do you already know your son got accepted?

i just went to my mailbox in NJ- Nothing

ZapadniyRus

I AM FREAKING OUT
уже приняли куда-то? и от кого еще ждешь?

nothing in Georgia either.

I believe 1992-1993 was a high birth year (youngest baby boomers’ kids), so that contributes to the upward trend.

I didn’t even know they were supposed to be arriving! It looks like someone in South Dakota already got their decision.

I live in a suburb of Nashville that is 15 min. away from campus-- and I didn’t even receive my letter yet. Looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer.

Nothing here in Texas…

Just checked mail in Florida… nothing yet :(

Aliisa

приняли в Университет Флориды и Майами… Я еще жду решение от Джорджтаун и Джонс Хопкинса

Какие школы вы ждете?

For those thinking news from Vandy may arrive today, it said on their blog that people in most parts of the country will get it by Saturday so I’m not expecting it until then. Internationals find out online tomorrow.

My friend from the neighbouring county got her acceptance letter today, but I got nothing. Are they only sending acceptances right now? :/

Current stats on Vandy freshman class from collegeboard.com :

Middle 50% of First-Year Students Who Submitted Scores:
SAT Critical Reading: 670 - 760
SAT Math: 690 - 770
SAT Writing: 660 - 750
ACT Composite: 30 - 34

It cannot be possible in one year the middle 50% range has jumped to 1590. That score would equal this year’s freshman classes at Harvard and Yale.

I really hope Vandy isn’t doing what UMich did this year… sending out acceptances and waitlists and rejections on different days…

I believe the acceptances are mailed priority, meaning that they would get to students faster than waitlists and rejections, which are mailed first class.

My sister got her acceptance letter today. We live in Nashville, TN.

Lol I wish such a ever-increasingly competitive uni like Vandy would send its decisions after everyone else, besides the Ivies and some others

Nothing in Ohio.

Im starting to freak out due to the stats… can anyone offer some reassurance?!

33 on act
4.6 GPA on 4 point weighted scale
3/150 rank
heavily involved in leadership, environmental, and service in the school and community
active in sports and clubs, student government etc
taken 6 AP classes (the most provided at school)
1 of 3 seniors taking 4 AP classes this year

I just got my stuff today! I live in the Nashville area and got the CV a few weeks ago, so maybe that’s why I’m getting my stuff slightly before some. idk. good luck to everyone!

edit: wow, those admitted stats are unexpectedly high. That certainly makes me feel more honored/lucky to have gotten the CV scholarship.

Nuthin’ in Texas today. D knows she got in from her Blair acceptance letter over the weekend, but as a mom I really want to see the financial aid offer!
