2011 RSI Discussion

^ I don’t think so…your chosen field only determines what mentor they will pick for you,
there are thousands of scientists in hundreds of fields at MIT/Harvard labs that they could contact, there are plenty of mathematics and computer science based projects

I also want to add that in an event that they do not find a mentor for you, they will give you a project that is as similar to your research field as possible, last year, my friend wanted genetics, but got neuroscience instead (both biology fields)

hopefully today letters come…if what lomeinaddict said was truee

So, if we’re discussing acceptance, in terms of research, I have been working on a scholarship paper for the YES Scholarship, performed surveys/studies via Statistics classes, etc…but nothing in depth like previous lab experience. Would that render my essay on past experience basically useless? Oh! and does RSI consider epidemiological studies for disorders as part of their research objectives?

If letters were sent out last week, then “locals” would have already received them… but for those of us on a different coast, we’ll be waiting a bit longer.

Wait, I’m sorta ‘localish’, east coaster, and I did not receive my letter in yesterday’s or today’s mail.

My mom just called RSI and was told that decisions will be mailed out in a week or so.

That is disappointing! :(

So mailed out next week, recieved the week after (week of the 24th, hopefully)… It wouldn’t seem that long if we never thought letters were coming this week though :P

Sounds goood

LOL sorry guys…honestly they told me we would be notified this week :((

Who knows? Maybe this person (who told my mom next week) just didn’t want to deal with the anxiety and maybe we’ll all get our decisions tomorrow :-). Nah I don’t think so… but it would be nice to get them sooner than expected… although never soon enough!

@lomeinaddict, it’s okay =D i don’t think anyone blames you. maybe just a change of plans on their part x] but yeah, this would make my next week an absolute chaos (AIME + ACS on the same day + RSI decisions + another internship decision! woohoo!)

RSI just wants to add on to the March Madness </3 State Qualifying tournament for Speech and Debate, National Qualifying Tournament for the same, SAT, 3 Internship Decisions, Debate Camp decision, and school…ugh…I want to graduate already

i don’t know how much this helps console/worry you guys, but as of 3/4 the decisions weren’t made :P

^but they’ve made them by 3/10, right? RIGHT!?!?!

They weren’t made?.. How much longer must we wait? D:

i mean they did get the applications later than they did any other years, so we probably actually have to wait until the last week of march to get decisions.

I have a very tardy and rather dumb question. I tried to follow the rules when filling out my RSI app and never sent anything that was not requested. I am deeply regretting not sending in my AP test score report (I took 6 total) all 5’s. Was this a mistake? Be honest.

Thanks! :)

I don’t think that will be the thing that makes or breaks you, frankly. I didn’t send any of mine in either.
