This could be a plausible (or possible…) explanation. Since it appears the letters rec’d thus far from CCers are coming from at least 2 or more (probably many) different signers, perhaps they divided the people up and had a number of people send letters this week. Some of them are chill and waiting until the mood strikes them…others are efficient. Maybe they had the readers/screeners who reviewed random groupings of applications handle the notifications of each in their group. My dad agrees with this one and I think it is possible. Inefficient, quasi-insensitve but very possible.

it was sent at 2:25 pm today

Wait, why do you think they’re all from different signers?
They all seem to be have been sent within the 2:23-2:26 time frame. I don’t know what to make of this.

^^^It seems at least 2 different people signed the letters here (posted in this thread) a third from NY state (a friend from my old school) got her rejection with yet another different name.

it seems they all had the same signer and email address…the signer just didn’t match the email address’ name

edit: just saw that last post…weirdd

@ender

I just got that Carleton email too… it was scary wondering what was lurking in my inbox.

My last name starts with D and I am in WA and no email yet.

Maybe they send them out in waves? I know I applied to a program last year and everyone but we who applied from my school received a rejection letter a couple weeks before me. Like I made it through the initial cut but was cut in the final cut.

Well it seems that the emails are done at least for the moment as nobody has had a email for the past hour. Maybe lunch break?

@Ender Hmm, could be. They did say they’d already chosen, though.

Maybe they’re sending it out in reverse chronological order of when they got it. I overnighted mine a week before the due date because I didn’t know that it had been changed.

it’s closing time at CEE for today… well, in 5 minutes. i think that’s it, until tomorrow…

i sent mine overnight the night before…

i am almost tempted to have my dad call and ask if i was accepted since another program accepted me last week and I think they are just assuming I can go. I want to tell them if I can or not but am waiting for rsi.

Incredibly inefficient system. Shocked, really…

What program are you accepted to? It is best not to ask CEE because one of cousins called about his son two years ago and feels that they removed him because he mentioned another acceptance.

I was accepted to Rockefeller University’s Summer High School Science Outreach Program.

And yes I don’t think i will actually call them. I can probably stall for a week or so from responding to Rockefeller since I am on spring break.

So how many people are left? I feel like making a list.

For whoever asked, no, I’m from Philadelphia, and I got rejected anyways, so don’t worry… Maybe they’re sending emails to all the rejects and snail mail to the accepts and waitlist? I dunno. I’m kinda sad, but mostly relieved that the wait’s over.

Last name’s W, live in PA. I don’t think it’s reverse chrono–I sent mine in a good three weeks before the extended deadline, so…

Rejected by email :(

PantherTrax - If you don’t mind my asking, when did you receive the email?

Panther, not you too?..

Definitely not one of the better days in my life…

“Incredibly inefficient system. Shocked, really…”

I’m incredibly sorry that they aren’t here to serve you. Stop speaking with such a sense of entitlement.

Spend your time on more useful things. I’m confused why people who have such time to kill apply to RSI.

Ok that was a bit harsh, but seriously guys–just be patient. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get a letter today. It’s not even the end of the world if you don’t get into RSI. It’s great and all, but there are plenty of successful people out there who didn’t go to RSI.

No use worrying when you have no control over the situation.

Unfortunately, we’re human and thus are not perfectly logical. We can’t help but to worry :(

@algebra ^^^

Nobody claimed, nor inferred, that it was the “end of the world.” You are incredibly rude. Learn some manners and social skills : /

Oh, and sorry if that was a “bit harsh.”
