This is prolly off topic but i watched the pursuit of happyness last nite to relax for this test. The last question on my sat was about the book version of the movie and i was like WIN in my head. sorry this contributed nothing to the thread …

There was a question about Lawrence whatever. It read, Most people know Lawrence ONLY AS the character from blahblahblah but he has something or other not hinted at in the movies.

I thought no error, after debating with myself for a while as to whether or not the correct idiom was “know as only” instead.

Also, what about the one where it read “could result in copyright infringement, therefore being illegal”
was that one no error as well?

for the last writing section, was one answer: due to it separating…?

For the one where it said the guy wanted to thank the employees who helped design the “thing” or whatever… was the error “Between”?

It was something like:

“… support ** between ** employees”

I thought that between implied just two employees and that “from” would have been a better fit

Lockclock, that one was correct as is.

Skarpi: Yes, that was incorrect. The correct phrase would be “AMONG employees” because it refers to more than 2 people.

for the paragraph improvement,
I said delete it from the passage.

i think between was an error

between was an error.

and what the hell!! why was it delete from the passage. WAHHHH i didn’t get that!

Between was an error. Correct idiom is “support FROM”
I also got “due to it separating” over 2733885 years ago blahblah.
But consensus seems to be “having separated”…

yes…
between => AMONG??
(between: 2 ppl/ Among: 2 or more ppl)

Support “among” is not correct, nor can it ever be.

nevermind :P

@neverstopsmiling
It’s because the passage never mentions new cars, just old cars.

What did you guys put for the paragraph improvement that was asking where the sentence should be or if it should be deleted? (used cars different from new cars)

Does anyone remember the wording for the reality entertainement topic?!

@chloeee Why is “among” not correct? I thought it was “between” for two things, “among” for more than two

But the phrase is SUPPORT _____. The correct idiom is “support from.”

If the sentence were something like “differentiate _____ x, y” then it would be “between.” If the sentence read, “differentiate _____ x, y, and z” then it would be “among.”

consolidated list anyone?

Some questions I remember…

trying at => trying to
Lawrence - no error
between => from
than do - no error

BTW what was question 12?
The national forest - an acknowledged as a … I picked A for this one.

I put “now that they were beginning to charge, they blah blah blah…” but I think I got this one wrong

for the first question of sentence improvement I said delete

Whats wrong with “BY separating from africa 260 years ago, the island now is filled with animals…” If it were choice A, it would be “Having separated from…260 years ago” but shouldnt it actually be “Having separated from…for 260 years” ? Since it is perfect present tense?
