My son didn't have any income in 2011 - does he need to provide 2011 tax return (student) to USC? I'll file my 2011 return and submit to USC. What do we need to do for 2012?

Other question on the subject - is online upload of tax return safe for USC website given that it has all identification and financial information?

On USConnect.com, you can upload a form called “Non-Filing Statement Form, Student,” this lets the school know your student did not file a 2011 tax return and why.

I would assume USC has made the system very secure. I will be honest I didn’t even think twice about uploading it. I did not want to fax the info.

If one does not expect fin aid because Fafsa efc is too high, do you still need to provide tax returns? What is the purpose? Or do they use tax return info to award remaining scholarships?

You do not need to send tax returns if you are not applying for financial aid. You do not need to do this is you are just getting a merit scholarship.

If you want to see if you will get any financial aid then do all the required steps, including sending in the tax returns.
