just fyi, the 21st last year was a wednesday. the 20th this year is a wednesday.

nick, you sound just like me man, same major, same top choices for schools, similar gpa, although I have a couple more B’s than you at CCC. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough…

@santacruzstefan

Are you at Cabrillo?

And just fyi, I’ve been accepted to UCSD, UCI, UCR and CSULB. I’m just waiting on LA, LMU and Oxy. LA is definitely my top choice.

I’m thinking I want to double major in Music History if I get in. Does anyone know how double majoring works as a transfer?

Trouble is, 3.4 is usually a no-go for political science at UCLA (and probably at Cal too). The only thing that might save me is the contrast between the OOS college and CCC (and TAP, and my work experience, and my highly unique, major-related life experiences). I don’t really have an upward trend, actually–the OOS college gave me crap grades, but I’ve been nearly perfect at CCC.

I hope you’ve got an upward trend, and that those B’s were early in your CCC career. If not… Well, we’ll still hope for the best. The overall UCLA admit rate for students in our GPA range is roughly 30%. :)

@nyky91 Yep, go Seahawks! (I think thats Cabrillo’s mascot, anyway…)

@nick Yeah, 2 of them were way early, like 6 years ago early, along with a slew of Ws. Then the break in between, and I’ve got 2 during the past 2 years, but A’s otherwise, and straight As last semester and the one before that (4.0 in major + statistics, 1 extra PS course done for Berkeley). Overall, it puts me at a 3.76, but the Incomplete/F from a summer course at UCSC in 2005 (quarter) technically drops me to a 3.56 or something like that. However, I think the mitigating circumstances, such as the fact that it was a course that I never attended but also failed to drop, and the improvement since then, might swing things in my favor.

Even if it doesn’t, though, I’m stoked even if I just get into UCSD on TAG, but I must admit I’d be disappointed to be denied Cal or UCLA. I’m sure you feel similarly.

I’m a Seahawk too…though I don’t have much school spirit, haha!

I read an article awhile back about this woman who wanted to be a nurse. She’d gone to college right out of high school and had failed every class. She took multiple years off to have the hippie experience and find herself before going back as serious student, but the grades from that first year continued to drag down her academic record and made it impossible for her to get into a good nursing program.

Not saying this will happen to either of you, I more just think the system for re-admitted students doesn’t really make sense. Oftentimes people just aren’t ready to get serious about college at such a young age. It’s unfair that the concept of maturing isn’t considering for returning students. Good luck to both of you!

i can see.

@nyky91 I think the best we can hope for is the weight of an upward grade trend. One of my counselors said that kind of progression, combined with a good story and perhaps having overcome obstacles, could make a lower GPA look better than a higher GPA. Also, taking into account things such as age, work, and what have you, I think its a decent shot.

april 20th or 21st people. just 5-6 more days. almost there. btw, when decisions ome out is someone gonna start a new acceptance thread or we post decisions here??? haha. dont trip too much over this URSA thing, apparently it doesnt indicate much.

SMCguy I hope you get in! I can tell you really want UCLA Anthro. Good luck!

Just a couple more days. I’m pretty anxious but tbh I don’t know what to except, so yeah. lol

I wasn’t able to see my URSA yesterday, but I can see it today. Hopefully that’s a good sign :)

Once again:

How will putting “will file” on our FAFSA affect our ability to see the financial aid stuff on URSA?

Does the URSA Financial Aid Document tracking only work for those who submitted FASFA?

If not, mine isn’t showing anything. :(

I applied as a Linguistics and Anthropology major. 3.36. IGETC finish, no TAP.

jamesvduhh- did you submit a fafsa?

@Pinoiak0916- Nope

nice pinoiako! you got admitted to UCLA, thanks to your upward trend and compelling story.

Guys, if you didn’t fill out a fafsa, nothing is going to show up.

Hopefully, it showing up is a good indication of acceptance. I got my hopes up, so now I’ll be extra dissapointed if I don’t get in.

Nero103 are you going to Cal day?

Nah I am On vacation

ugh i wanted to go to cal day so bad but a. i have tons of hw and b. my parents discouraged me from going because i’m not admitted… T_T
