No one really knows…in years past it’s been released anywhere from the 20th to the 27th or so.

cool… so why are you guys worrying about it? lol, its not for another 20 days.

I transferred into UCLA as a computer science major last year. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions!

^

Did you watch the movie, Where the Wild Things Are?

Arcade Fire made the movie freakin EPIC

^ where the wild things are sucked :/

Chance me? :c

GPA: 3.7
Major: Communications
Prereqs: Only need one more class which I’m taking this Spring quarter.
IGETC: Completed
TAP: No
EC: Student government (marketing portion of the student government), officer board of honor society (Phi Theta Kappa), school newspaper ad designer, officer of business club, member of Red Cross, Phi Theta Kappa, and International Student Volunteer.

I know my GPA is on the lower end, but I was hoping my extracurricular would boost me up.

@bunnychan you know that the average GPA for communications is a 3.94. Right now ucla is a reach for you. How are your grade trends and your personal statement?

I have a kind of random question about grades in Winter 2011 classes, I know it’s a bit late but still…I updated my app with my SMC Winter session class grade on February 16, which is about two weeks after the ‘priority’ date, but does anyone know if there is a chance UCLA will still look at that grade? I know it sounds kind of petty, but that A in Macro-econ raised my GPA from a 3.63 to a 3.65, and I feel like any boost helps. I’d be grateful for any information!

One more thing, has anyone visited the UCStatFinder website? It gives some very interesting information regarding average GPAs accepted for various majors, and though the most current year is 2009 it still matches up pretty well to the UC Profile of admitted transfers ([Profile of Admitted Transfer Students - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof.htm)). Plus, it gives more specific information, such as the amount of transfers accepted with GPAs between 3.80 and 4.0, etc etc.
Here’s the link: [University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/statfinder/drawtable.aspx?track=1)

From what I’ve heard, no, winter grades don’t count for purposes of gpa. Are you Econ/Bus Econ?

@Shinra, nope! I’m actually an English major, I took the class with a friend and ended up doing pretty well in it Bummer to hear UCLA won’t see it, but maybe since I’m kind of on the brink GPA-wise (for my major) they’ll end up taking it into consideration? Thanks for the feedback!

No problem I think your gpa is still competitive without the winter grade. Your ECs and personal statement will probably make or break you. Are you in TAP by any chance?

Thanks for the encouragement Shinra! I’m feeling pretty good about my essays, I talked about personal hardship in high school (both of my parents passed away from cancer), as well as how my two years at CC + my job as an English tutor had helped renew my enthusiasm for my studies. I didn’t do TAP, and am kind of regretting it…but whatever happens happens! I see you’ve applied as Bus/Econ, do you have TAP? Best of luck!

wow, losing both parents to cancer is such a big hit…huge props for being able to overcome that. If UCLA is your #1, I’ll pray that you get in :-D

I did apply for Bus Econ and am in TAP. Honestly, I don’t know what to expect because really qualified applicants get turned down all the time for that major. Also, I’m probably the only econ major who plans on going to law school after graduating :P

so many math/econ majors this year… now i think i’ll not be able to get in with a 3.5 with c++ not done.

^ do you have the other maths done? if so, i think you have a good shot for math/econ with a 3.5.

I’m done with everything except that C++ class. I’d love to take it though!

The schools I go to don’t offer a transferable C++ class -_-

In the past people were missing 2-3 classes for Math/Econ and still got in. Don’t sweat it, especially if your school doesn’t even offer the class.

Yeah if your school doesn’t offer it, I wouldn’t worry about it. Although, I hope you checked to see if any other local CC’s did. Just to be safe.

I did! There’s this school that was kind of near and they offered it… I didn’t want to drive that far though!

Anyway, thanks for the chances guys!

Weaksauce. I made a one hour drive from one CC to another, and then 30 minutes back to my house, for Differential Equations.
