Ayn Rand: “To have religion is to reject reality.”

I’m not saying you lack intelligence in other areas, religion nowadays is just so pick and choose. Modern day believers have changed religion to make it work with modern times, but religion isn’t even supposed to work that way.

Debates end with “Well I have faith” and it’s just a silly thing to argue about anyway. Believe what you want, but as a ‘believer’ in science and science alone, I’m aware that it’s firmly established that there’s no point arguing over a theory that can’t be tested. An irrefutable theory doesn’t make for a GOOD theory, it makes for an unscientific, illogical debate.

I happen to be a Liberal Athiest, so I’m sure I’d really enjoy talking to all the professors you’ve had. Funny that you say I’ve lost credibility for quoting professors, when they’re quite obviously more educated than either of us.

Religion = choice. No one is forcing anything on you or me. At least not in this country. Take a physical anthropology class or bio 100 and then we can talk. Till then, you can ignore my IQ, my choices, and my immorality.

nyky, I actually like Rand. More for her free-market views but that’s a different subject.

I’m a Roman Catholic. Actually, a Catholic who knows his faith. You should read our Catechism. Or better yet, you should read St. Thomas Aquinas or St. Augustine, two of the greatest philosophers of all time, who happen to be Christians. They can provide a better defense than I can.

I had professors telling me that Bush was a conservative free-marketeer. I have a friend who’s at Berkeley who’s had professors who have preached the same thing. You’re liberal right? Aren’t liberals suppose to question authority?

The music history major requires you to have a year of music theory background as a transfer student. It’s possible you could just take the lower division theory classes and then do the stuff for upperdivision, but you’d probably have to talk to a counselor once we all find out about admissions decisions.

If you’re interested in the historical stuff, you could probably just go for the minor if they won’t let you double major without the theory background. Same classes, just less of them.

To be honest I’m not sure what were even debating. I’m with SMCguy and Mitch, where the wine and the naked running through the streets.

Where’d the enjoyable conversation about sex go?

I could care less about some overly conservative republican who I’ve never met and never will meet. I’m not sure why they care about me or anyone else either.

smcguy- UCLA is now my top choice. I am interested in neuropsychology research. Plan to be a neuropsychologist. Went to cal day this past weekend in Berkeley and the psych people told me that with neuropsychology research, I would have to go to UCSF to do research there for my focus of psychology.

Commuting to SF from berkeley can be a bi*ch.

with UCLA, their med centers are just right there.

So if I don’t see that **** on URSA, and it means I have been denied at UCLA, what do y’all think are my chances for Berkeley, considering I’ve always heard Cal is more difficult to get in to?
