2011 UCLA Transfers: The Central Thread for Discussion and Decisions

Aquinas was a middle-ages hack. The five proofs were bogus.

I was raised a Christian and now I don’t believe anyone of it! School played a major role in this change. I’ve also realized most hard core religious people are uneducated and grasp on to hope in superstition to help them sleep at night.

Transferca, have you read Summa Theologica? No, you haven’t. I have atheist friends who admire his work. Actually read him, don’t wikipedia him.

<======Philosophy Major here

santacruzstefan- UCLA and Cal are just as difficult to get into as a transfer. The transfer acceptance rate is lower in Cal but only by 1 percent.

@blackmamba8

DUDE. NO BODY CARES. YOU HAVE YOUR BELIEFS. COOL. EVERYONE DOES. BUT DO YOU SEE ME GOING AROUND FORCING THEM UPON YOU. NO. OKAY THEN. JUST LEAVE IT ALONE. FIGHTING OVER THE INTERNET IS STUPID.

YES THE CAPS WHERE FOR EMPHASIS.

@Pinoiako916 I really hope you get into UCLA, it’s a perfect fit for you. I have a friend who completed undergrand and her Phd in Molecular Bio at UCLA and she loved it. I believe her Phd was pretty much paid for by a grant.

I have read Summa Theologica. I am not an atheist, and I still thought it was totally f u c k ing s h it. But I am not going to get into an intellectual dick measuring contest on the internet. Been there, done that.

I’m pretty sure you judged our morality when we were discussing sex a few pages back. Anyway, I must depart and especially have no interest in discussing your opinion on my morality since it doesn’t concern you. Off to a dinner date with the possibility of sinful, debaucherous, homosexual relations. Good day to you blackmamba :wink: .

hey blackmamba8… why don’t you go watch fox news or something and stop being a condescending d o u c h e

@blackmamba

I’m down for reading about the STORIES and all that, I even tried to read the bible once but it was a little intense and I just didn’t have proper commitment. Religion is definitely an interesting part of our culture and history, and since so many people are still all about it, it’s probably something I should be open to looking at an understanding…

But the concept of understanding doesn’t really seem to be reciprocated by religious affiliations. I have a hard time with that. I’m all for faith; we have no idea what’s going on, but seriously? Religion should just stop professing to know.

smcguy- this thread is so addicting.

well…this thread went bad real fast

I am more of a fan of Maimonides and Averroes. Generally though, I don’t really respect the work of religious philosophers as they tend to see the world around them through rose-colored glasses, as it appears you do as well Mr. Mamba.

Somebody doesn’t know humor … way to ruin the spirit of the thread. Fyi, I’m a Kobe fan too.

Truth is objective.

Really nyky? I see how that perspective is understandable since Christians haven’t done a great job of defending the faith. But, the Church has been standing for a while now and how several intellectuals in it and has actually has helped build western civ (see Thomas Woods book on that). I just loathe the perception that religious people have low intelligences. There are people like that in every walk of life.

And yeah, I’m down for UCLA talk, sex talk or whatever else. This thread is the only thing that cracked me up today :smiley: Thanks to everyone who’s been cracking jokes.

I work next to a sex shop and for Christmas they gave us a care package: a bag full of condoms, lube, chocolate, etc. Probably one of the greatest moments at my job.

smcguy- I took all of the “pre med requirements” but I do not plan to become a physician. Just become a researcher :)

Ok let’s change topic… Anyone watching American Idol? Haley was pretty good… she sang the ish out of that Adele song!!

Am I the only one that actually like religious debates between believers and non-believers? It always ends the same way, but it’s fun!
