2012 AP Calculus AB Test Discussion

okay, so then the velocity at 7pi/4 would be 0. That’s definitely not the minimum.

Someone should compile a list of free response answers, hehe (:

I think those were values to test on a sign line and the sign line changed from neg to pos at 7pi/4.

yeah, but that’s the velocity function. You find the minima and maxima of a function by its derivative, not the function itself.
Sorry about being hard-headed about this, but I’m pretty damn sure.

what about the graph with the limit as x approached 2 from the right side? i chose 2

That one was 3 because from the right the graph getting closer to 3 until it actually reaches 2.

Pretty sure for the min velocity I got 5pi/4 3rd quadrant and I had that the velcity was something like sinx+cosx or something where both negatives made sense I def didn’t have any 4th quad answers

@Fast, I’m 99.999% sure we’re right with 5pi/4

@fastneutrino, I got 5pi/4 as well. I actually had left over time and plugged each of them into the equation and it had the most negative value.

mathisfun: I can also attest to one of the answers being 5pi/4.

Overall, that was the easiest AP MC (practice or real over any subject) that I’ve ever taken. Didn’t even guess once. The non-calculator FR was a bit iffy, especially the one that was pretty much all about the FTC. I’ll be very disappointed if I didn’t get a 5.

@mathisfun
If we’re talking about the same problem, I THINK that I got: -2 = maximum , +2 = neither, because it went from decreasing to decreasing some more.

I’m almost 100% positive that the answer to the velocity problem was 7pi/4. For the acceleration, you got (cosx+sinx=0)=>(cosx=-sinx), and the velocity function was (sinx-cosx=v(t))…so the minimum is 7pi/4

What was the answer to the one that had HA at 2 and -2 though?

mada, we are not, but yes, that is correct (:

was g’(c) = 1/a correct for the multiple choice?

I THINK that I got g’(d)=1/a.

I said g’(c)= 1/a also. But it was a guess.

FastNeutrino, it’s like you and I are on the same brain wave. My stuff has matched most of yours’

That velocity problem was terrible. I forgot how to do it. :(

The temperature one threw me out of place. Especially since it was the first problem. How the heck was I supposed to find W’(12) -__-

The non-calculator portion of the test was relatively easy. But the calculator portion… Shame, shame, shame. But I do feel good about the test. I feel like I at least passed with a 3, which was my goal!

I put g’(d)=1/a… but I guessed…

I’m still fairly sure that it was 7pi/4

For the acceleration, you got (cosx+sinx=0)=>(cosx=-sinx), so it could either be 3pi/4 or 7pi/4.

But then you have the velocity function, which was (sinx-cosx=v(t)). Because of this, only 7pi/4 can work as a minimum
