Thank you! I really hope everyone is right. It gets me anxious, because my twin brother is also applying there, and he has a great GPA and pretty good ACT score, so we figure he’ll be accepted into summer. But I’M the one who’s really interested in UCF, trying to find out all I can about it. It is, literally, the only thing I talk about, and it kind of upsets me that the twin that has the most interest stands the least chance:/ Ah, we’ll see. Also, when would you guys think is the perfect time to start sending things in? I’ve heard late july, but some people said that’s too early. Other people said it will show admissions that you’re eager and very interested, and they’ll take more time on your application because they don’t have the, ‘oh my gosh, here comes the rush!’ stack of applications. When IS a good time to apply?

The only thing I see hurting you fluidity is probably the 20 on your ACT. I think you should try out the SAT.You might do better on that. I’d talk to your guidance counselor on when to apply. Your guidance counselor knows best. Good luck fluidity! :)

Write, what are your GPA from freshman year to junior year?

I’m crossing my fingers that you get a good ACT score!

Thanks saber:) i’m getting my retake scores back, and i’m hoping for a 22 at the lowest. Also, last year I did okay, freshmen year wasn’t good though. My grades slipped drastically during end of first semester to second, because I was struggling to keep my mind on school, rather then wondering how long herb had left. I also didn’t do well on my finals the last day of school, because I was putting my childhood dog done right after school. I don’t to come up with with excesses, because people have experienced worse. I’ll be honest though, I could have had at least a 3.4 GPA through high school if these situations didn’t occur. Ucf was given the chance to become a university, and they are not an outstanding school. Given that same chance, I can prove i’m a determined student…I think i’ll say that in my essay.

One of the top things UCF said they take into account when they came to my highschool was an increase in grades throughout the four years. So if you showed improvement from freshman year to senior year that could improve your chances of getting accepted. :)

That’s great, because it’s evident i’ve improve. Maybe not at the quickest pace, but it’s noticeable. I also am challenging myself next year, with three ap classes. I wanted to push myself senior year. This, hopefully, will be the one year no person problems will happen. If so, I know how to handle them now…

If possible WRITEfluidity, you should attempt as many higher level courses as possible for this upcoming year. AP’s are awesome because the shoot the gpa up and add the the course strength, the second most important aspect of a students application. It’s what I am doing!

Perfect! The only regular classes I have for me senior year is pre-calc (I’m horrid at math, there’s no way I’d take any kind of honors or AP in that class) and orchestra…oh, and the mandatory ‘econ’ class, which they don’t offer honors or AP in that particular class. The rest are AP, though. AP psychology, AP enviormental science, and AP senior english. One thing my counsler said was that, at first, the admission may be a little iffy, with one of my classes. This year, I took my first AP class, which was AP english. First semester, I had a D. But she said once they see that somehow, I was able to pull it up to an A, and keep it that way for the remainder of the year, it will show drastic improvement…I hope she’s right!

It’s good that you have course strength. Next year I have 2 APs and 4 honors. Not even one regular lol (which is good). Im taking dual enrollment this summer but I wish I was able to get ONE more AP for senior year…

You’ll be fine, saber, you’re FOR SURE in. Also, how do they usually look at community service hours? ON a previous post, I said about 300. I was WAY OFF. I added up everything (Took forever, since, you know, I’m horrid at math) And I have about 620 hours of community service. Will they at LEAST think that’s slightly impressive? It’s the only good thing I can give them…

Fluidity…you have a beautiful amount of hours. I really think you have a shot at getting into UCF. I think the only thing holding you back is your ACT. Also, when you mentioned what your GPA was, did you mention your weighted, unweighted, or college-specified-calculated GPA? And be sure to update us when you get your ACT results! You should have done much better since you studied for your second test :)

I studied as hard as I could:) even my mom, who doesn’t willingly admit such things, said no matter my score, she’s proud, because she would see me turn down friends to sit in front of all those books. I will tell you all once I get my score back, which should be in next week. I certainly hope for, at least, a 22. You’re giving me hope that I might stand a chance:) thank you, I really can’t express what it means.
