@Tony, I’m the same way.

People and their little peanut galleries wanna jump me when i say it so I just ignore those with 4.0’s or within the ballpark range. Thats why I don’ chance them. So just do like I do, ignore them.

CC does have a reputation and an urban dictionary definition, I don’t even need to post what it is.

@UCkittychen Haha. I had no idea College Confidential even had it’s own place in urban dictionary. For a while, I thought maybe I was a horrible person when these “chance me please, I have a 4.0 and amazing ECs, oh no” would show up and I’d get upset, but apparently I’m not alone.

not even, i share your disgusted frustration.

@UCkittychen

I know its just annoying lol.

I also find it hard to believe that people with 4.0 GPAs + 4000000 hours of community service come here asking if they can get chanced because they’re “legitimately” worried.

There are people with worse GPAs and outstanding ECs that are worried lol

Well honestly I feel the (4.0 folks) plight as well… I mean there are plenty of people who get declined by Berkeley and UCLA who are in that range. Those of us who worked hard for these things are terrified we might not get into our “dream school” or even the most desired.

lol.

What I’m “terrified” about is if I should make the risky move of transferring out of my current school (Cal State) into a CC for 1 year, then hoping I can transfer into a UC.

Preferably UCSB…

I have tons of ECs and hundereds of community service hours.

But I’m not much of a GPA ace lol.

Exactly! While some come on here with a great GPA but no ECs/Community service. Everyone has a specific situation their worried about; honestly CollegeC has helped me insanely in the mere two weeks I’ve been on. It seems as the majority of everyone here (UC transfer sub-forum) isn’t on to just ■■■■■, but legitimately worried.

let us hush up Tony & Jason before soon the gnomes emerge out of their shadows provoking an ugly argument. You will see them soon possibly reply soon.

@Tony, it is a tough call, but it seems you have a fantastic resume trailing you. Why the change & what iseth thy majoreth?

@UCkittychen

As you probably know Cal States are just too crowded and tuition is hiking up by like 15%

I just don’t feel like it’s worth staying here paying for classes that I can’t even get.

On top of that I think a UC would look more better on my bachelor’s degree.

I have a 3.0 gpa right now in my first semester at CSU. I’m in my 2nd semester taking 12 units tryina boost it up.

After this Spring 2012 semester, I plan to wrap up and move back down to LA and enroll in SMC (a local CC that has the highest UC transfer rate, but very crowded…)

I plan to stay at SMC for 1 year and complete IGETC and 60 units. (Will take Summer and Winter courses as well).

Then hopefully transfer into UCSB, UCR, UCI, anywhere.

Major is Business.

The average mean GPA of transfer students in 2011 to UCSB was 3.44, and admit rate was 46% which sounds pretty damn low.

So I am very nervous.

Plus I have a feeling the year I stayed at CSU will affect my application for some reason…

inhaling air through teeth

3.0 for business, sorta tough, the guy most knowledgable with that sorta stuff around here is FerrariXD.

But you aren’t transferring this fall though? So you most definitely have an awesome chance, but be sure you fair extremely well. It seems at the new decade approaches it is getting more tough to be admitted to a UC in general. Work extremely hard and remember your goal and the consequences if you fail to achieve that goal.

I’m tryna score a really high GPA this semester. See how that impacts my 1st semester GPA.

Besides all I’m taking are pre req classes lol.

@tony
get tag and you will dash ur way through UCSB like a cake.
UCI is tough to get in as business major. btw do not let other people fool you say that UCI is easy to get in. Thats true, but depend on what is your major. In fact, business major at UCI is near the competitive level of UCB.

speaking of the devil…

Guys, the 4.0ers have the same right to post here as everyone else. Perfect stats or not, many people are still anxious about acceptances, anxious about their future, and rightly so. Nothing wrong with being healthily nervous and, of course, prudent.

@Ferrari4XD

What do I need to do for TAG???

@Tony don’t go to smc. you wont get any of the classes you need. it will take two gets to transfer out of that place. go somewhere with less students like citrus college.

Just wanted to let you guys know~ I’m pretty sure the UC’s have a limit on how many units they will take from a four year institution from another university. I tried to tag to UCSC and wasn’t able to because I had over 21 credits from Colorado State. Each university has their own limit though, so I would definitely check into that if you’re considering tagging while at a community college and have credits from a previous institution. :)

@uchappytrain

That’s what I was nervous about.

I’m scared SMC might be too crowded.

I’m trying to transfer within 1 year.

I have to stay in the LA area.

Got anymore suggestions???

SMC is closest to mhy house

I know it’s not hard to get classes at either citrus or chaffey college.

Does anyone think it is getting tougher to get accepted into a csu because of how everything is changing?
