I still managed to pull of a 4.0 after fall, but I know winter will probably be tougher and also getting spring classes will be tough too :X I actually don’t really have that many units since most of my units are from AP (36 units) I don’t know if that matters though

I got my first 4.0 in fall after recovering from a crappy freshman Spring quarter…

A+ in O-Chem and Bio. Overall, my GPA stands at approx. 3.87. My GE’s are done but I’m missing Bio lab (discontinued at UCI as of this year, could not enroll at local CCC for spring). I also don’t have any Physics at all. I’m also afraid to fail one of my classes…the difficulty is catching me off guard. Midterms will be rolling by for the next few weeks and I just want to survive (not even because of transferring lol).

Congrats I just want to survive this quarter too! haha also stressed about getting classes! I feel like classes offered just get less and less every quarter…

Hi there,
Can someone please chance me for Santa Barbara? I applied as a comparative literature major. I’m currently a lit major at UCSC. My cumulative GPA is 3.5 and major GPA is 3.75

I would say you have a shot at UCSB. If the major isn’t very popular or impacted i’d say your chances will go up from there. What really matters is that you finish all your major pre-reqs by Spring and also be sure to finish your GE’s by the time you enroll. Good luck!

When’s your enrollment date? If its not that late, you shouldn’t worry about getting into dance7W as they have more choices for WAC next quarter (dance7W, hist20W, Bus100W)

My enrollment date is March 1. I’m not too worried about getting into dance7w. It’s just that it’s time conflicts with ethnic studies 1 and I need to take either ethnic studies 2 or another ethnic studies course, which may be difficult to get in due to the school not offering much classes this quarter.

@cheddargoldfish
I don’t think literature is impacted at UCSB but I don’t think I will be able to finish all my GEs by the time I transfer…I know that will make it so I have to complete SB’s general ed but I read on their site that you don’t have to finish them by the time you transfer. How big of a deal do you it will be if I don’t finish them?

@Mikali - It’s important that you finish all GEs for UCLA and UCB, other UC’s may be more lenient but for the top UC’s they do require you to finish them so it will definitely look bad on your app. My advice would be to make good use of summer school to squeeze in as much as you can.

@Strive - I just realize, for the UC Academic Update I put Dance 7w but I didn’t list in the additional comments section that it will meet my English 1C requirement - do you think that’s a big deal? I did list that I will be done with my GE’s though by Spring.

I think the UC’s you apply to will know. Plus, if you get UC Reciprocity, it automatically implies that you already finished all GEs including Eng1C. I wouldn’t worry too much

Alright thanks Did you take ethnic studies already?

I’m taking it right now! Etst5 Asian American Studies…I think that’s the easiest one. I heard Etst1 is hard

Oh wow, that’s good. I might have to take chicano studies if I get in… haha because nothing works with my schedule. If that fills up then it’s upper divs for me…

Good luck with registration then! How many units do you plan on taking? I’m contemplating adding a 5th class (20 units) but I’m not sure yet.

I plan on just taking 3 classes haha I’m done with GE’s and I don’t want to take more classes what is the unit cap this quarter?

Yeah, I only needed two more GEs, but I’m taking extra math. Unit cap is 16 for first pass.

Just registered today! I actually got into English 1c over Dance7w. I’m contemplating which one to take. Do you know how hard English 1c is? It just works better with my schedule now I can take ethnic studies 1, but i’m worried it is really hard and I hate writing a ton of papers… haha. I actually ended up taking 16 units. Besides English and ethnic studiesi’m taking ling 20, art history 15

Nice! I’m a ■■■■■■, I had the 1st day of registration and didn’t even look at Eng 1C call numbers as I thought they were restricted to seniors, and now the spots left are only for seniors. But oh well!

My friends that took 1c during the summer said it was easier/more fun than 1B. So you’ll be getting UC Reciprocity for sure right? Me too. I heard Ling 20 is kinda hard even though it looks like it’s easy…but idk, that’s just what I heard.
I’m taking Bio30, CPLT24 (I heard this class is easy and fulfills humanities, you should look into it, there are so many spots left), Math9c, Dance7w, and i’m contemplating adding either math10b or math46.

@cheddargoldfish I met with a counselor and I’m going to finish my GEs by the end of spring. I have less left to do than I thought! Does it ask that anywhere on the TAU though? I know there’s a section that asks will your GEs be completed yes/no but there isn’t an option for in progress.

Sorry for the late reply, this thread got pushed back so far lol. I put that I will be done with my GE’s and I checked yes since technically I’m done by Spring 2012. Hope that helps :)

@strive omg so many math courses! I actually don’t need ling 20 anymore. Just got an email reply from the anthro dept and they said the course isn’t an equivalent and I’ll have to take the class there. So I guess I lucked out and am going to be taking 3 classes after all :)! Bio30 should be fun! and very easy haha
