2012 UC-to-UC Transfer Thread

Oh, I see. I’m on the website right now. Very cool. I didn’t know you could do that. This would be perfect but I would need a place to live and I can see this getting expensive…

@All fields- yea, there’s some kind of program where you go from UC to UC for a quarter to study or something

@Alice- sorry to hear that and thanks for your insight.

What? I took English AP in HS and I got a 4 and it covered 2 quarters of English for me here. English 1A and English 1B. Now for Spring i’m taking English 1C which is my last english elective.

On my app I stated that my English AP will cover my English requirement.

@Strive - btw, do you know anyone whose taken English 1c? and if it’s like easy or not? lol I hear it’s easy and relaxed from some people but other people say it’s hard. Not sure which is right =/

The problem is that I’m trying to use two AP tests to fulfill both requirements, which I’m not sure is allowed.

Does anyone know for sure if those UC Eligibility requirements apply to us?

I don’t think that requirement is specifically for CCC students…I’m pretty sure it applies for all applicants…it’s pretty clear cut according to this page:

[Transfer Admission Guide - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/tradms.htm)

Completion of two writing/composition courses along with one Math course is an academic criteria. However, it doesn’t say that its absolutely required…it’s just a factor that they take into consideration, along with GPA, pre-req. completion, GE completion, ect.

Anyway, as with most intercampus transfer issues, we can’t know for sure. Your case might be unique because of the school you go to…at UCI, AP credit doesn’t pass you out of any writing so we still have to take two lower division writing classes T_T. Just wait for UCLA’s official response.

Yeah, UCLAs adcom email response time is pretty good. If they get back to me soon, I can try to enroll in a english comp class for next quarter, update my TAU, and hope they see it.

Another possibility is that two AP exams could be used to fulfill both, which would be better than any other outcome. I guess i’ll find out in a day or so

@cheddar I heard 1C is pretty easy, you just write research papers. Good luck in it next quarter!

mmsiphone, would you please share your reply here when you receive one? Please and thank you.

btw, for UCLA, what does " one advanced course in english composition mean? specifically, what is " advanced course" ? thanks

Where are you reading that from nameless?

Thanks Strive  Hope your finals are going well too

Hello,

As a UC to UC transfer applicant, you only need to focus on your UC’s GE courses because UC to UC transfer applicants do not need to worry about completing the seven courses listed inside the UCLA Transfer Admission Guide.

Thank you,
UCLA Undergraduate Admissions"

I just about died of happiness

I think advanced Composition course for UcR is English1B.

Also you guys remember John travolta in Pulp fiction with the UcSC banana slugs shirt ? Good stuff

^isn’t advanced composition Eng1C in UCR?

I have a question regarding the TAU-I recently changed my spring quarter classes, and updated it. However I swapped one class for another this morning, and thus need to update it again. I’m fulfilling UC Reciprocity this spring and the class I changed satisfies the same GE so I don’t think it’s a big deal. My grades for winter quarter come out next week and I am thinking about just waiting until then to update my TAU. Is it a bad idea to wait until next week to notify schools, or should I be fine?

^just curious, are we required to update the TAU with our winter quarter grades next week? im just wondering what the point would be since i thought admissions officers don’t take them into account for admissions decisions…

We aren’t required or even asked to.

Is it safe to say we will get our decisions last, or have UC-to-UC people been accepted already?

^I’m from UCR, accepted to UCSD last weekend
