** 2012 UCSD Transfer Decisions Thread **

Housing app works fine for me.

@jdom24

Oh now it’s working. Were you accepted in the first batch? If not did you get an email from housing stating this…

"The campus experienced technical difficulties on Sunday March 18th, which are now resolved. While applying for housing for 2012-2013, some students received an error message “NO RECORDS FOUND WHICH MATCH KEY”. If you experienced problems on Sunday, please go back to http://myapplication.ucsd.edu and complete the housing application. We apologize for this inconvenience.”

Yup, first batch. Never got that message either, I filled out the app on the 17th and it went through fine.

I got accepted in the 1st batch, but that is hella faulty on their part. Are their “rolling” admissions always this disorganized?

salmos, you are so lucky you aren’t involved in all of this foolishness.

So they accept most of the 3.6+ students on the 1st batch and then completely slack off for almost a month since we have lower GPAs. Honestly, I’m just waiting for UCLA and UCB now.

It’s not just the <3.6 GPA’s that are waiting. I have a 3.89 and haven’t heard a thing. :(

My sister and I both have ~3.9 (she has all of her pre-reqs done for bio, my major pre-reqs are IP) and we haven’t heard back…*** is going on?

Last year most of the decisions were anounced on april 29th, the day before the deadline. sooo get used to this waiting thing i guess

Everyone’s admission status will change by May 1st (their deadline) stop freaking out! It’s ok to be sad that they haven’t changed your status, but stop making it sound like they aren’t doing their job. We’re all on the same boat waiting for admission decisions. So quit bishing and find something to keep yourself occupied

OK i have been debating between UCSD and UCSC, I am a transfer student and got accepted to both. THE VILLAGE (transfer student apartments) looked really nice and was tilting me towards picking UCSD… until I saw this video on youtube:

[Documentary of The Village at Torrey Pines: UCSD - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

From what it looks like its nice and easy to get to class and stuff, but the RFO’s a LAMOS from what almost everyone on the video says. Check it out people.

One big issue I had with UCSD was the social scene, but I figured that in transfer apartments youll meet cool people that aren’t robots that get 4.5 hs gpa’s, and so I figured the social scene wouldn’t be that bad. But if the RSO’s are going to be Catholic Church dictators and crack down on any drinking/partying/socializing, then i’m leaning more towards UCSC. Hope this helps any prospect transfers

SD always struck me as a depressing school for some reason.

Did anyone else also receive an email from UCSD that is addressed to “Prospective Freshman Residents” or “Parents/Guardians of 2012 Future Freshmen”?

It has a link to this video about living on campus.
[UC San Diego Living On Campus - YouTube](<a href=“UC San Diego Living On Campus - YouTube”>UC San Diego Living On Campus - YouTube)

Yada yada. Just thought it was interesting cause it was addressed to freshmen ;P

@dremaniac

thanks for the link to the youtube video! very informative and has a great inside look for the village. (:

^ Yeah I got that too. I think they just send it to everyone who has filled out the housing app, and assumes since we want to live on campus we are freshman. (even though there is transfer housing). I’d really hate to be a freshman again.

@ Dremaniac: I just watched the video. I’ve been living on my own and making my own money for 5 years. There’s no way I’m going to transfer and downgrade, and have some RA’s as parents. LOL! Not worth 1400 either.

where do most non-transfer juniors end up living…?

isn’t the transfer housing at UCSC also called the village?

@AB12345: I think all the UC’s have 3rd and 4th year housing now. Or they live off campus.

@ uchappytrain: yeah I think it is also called the village. I think Riversides is also called the village. Maybe all the UC’s have their own village? Wouldn’t surprise me.

***? so we’re like lower class villagers or something? I’m offended.

^^ lol. It’s as if they try to seclude the transfers. I think it’s a good concept though. If I were to live on campus i wouldn’t want to live in the same area as the high school kids.
